The other thing is that so far - these aren't doing the thing where a ton of stratiform rain develops behind storms and lingers for an hour or two. These seem to have plenty of clear areas on radar right behind the line.

Yep. And for all the early fog, and rain, the line looks pretty robust

I have never heard it do that before. It was just pouring then I heard it and it was total white out conditions with rain. You could see the wind blow across the deck. 

Gulf of Mexico level rain shower here. Breezy but nothing crazy in Whittier. Not much thunder either.

Second line was pretty garden variety. First one had some gusts in the 40s albeit brief. Second one was just heavy rain and a couple good rumbles. So far radar to ground truth has been more bark than bite. Looks like I lull until squall line/fropa.

That was an easy 0.5”+ downpour. That definitely cleaned up any remaining salt from the winter.

Also - every now and then early shower/storm activity can enhance low level moisture and make things even soupier. Not that we had an issue with the warm air/dewpoint advection already - but with some sun on this moist ground that could really enhance things for later.

This slot I'm in east of DC could be a target zone later today. The storms in VA seen to be staying out there. The sky is starting to brighten a bit.

I live near there and got basically the same picture. Good wind-driven rain but no lightning. Clarksburg circulation went over my MIL's apartment but she's okay (nothing to report apparently).

I picked up .70” out of that. Interesting that new tornado warning for Eastern Fred Co. is the part of the line that went through down here. I said I heard the wind before it hit. Heard a roaring sound then it hit so not surprised that it is now warned. Dead calm now and sun wanting to peak out on the backside.

Some tropical rain here but nothing remarkable.  This band seems to have weakened (at least in VA).

I think we're in a good spot. I'm seeing the sun over here at the headwaters of the South River. Feels warmer suddenly. Getting ready to pack my chase gear.

I was so close to having a great view of that couplet just before it crossed the Potomac. I was a few miles south, in sterling, but was waiting on an oil change to be done so didn't have access to my car. 

This was as good as my view got

Yeah seemed odd given the radar presentation but it’s since weakened.
