I can’t find a snow total for RIC. Did they get anything?

What chances do we have for a positive bust? Undermodeled CAD and heavy rates? Didn’t Williamsburg cash in big 12/9 with a delayed changeover.

    Hurricane Irma Local Impacts/Evacuations

Chances of the eyewall effecting Puerto Rico?
  5. The RAP and HRRR have failed in central VA. There is sleet from CHO to RIC, the only model that came close to this is the NAM. FWIW.

I was in NY for the 2010 Boxing Day Blizzard, last time I experienced insane rates with 12+ on the ground. There is nothing like it. Hopefully that mixing line and dry slot stays away. Radar looks great, intense looking band to our south and the mixing line being held at the NC border so far.

I apologize if my post was harsh, was just wondering why AKQ was usually behind the other WFOs in the region. Your response makes perfect sense. You guys definitely have a tough job, every major storm your stuck working out the details of the changeover area.

Seems on track when comparing the SPC meso page with the 12z GFS for 18z today.

Wakefield is always so conservative. Always the last WFO in the region to make a call. We're less than 24 hours away, make a call.

Monster hit on the EURO for RVA. 18+ from Williamsburg west. Impressive winds too. The main difference I'm seeing from the GFS and EURO tonight is that the GFS brings warm 850's further west. 850s on the GFS get to 0 near the U of R area.

The 1/20 00z EURO parallel crushes Central VA.

Yes a classic RVA snowstorm. The past few years its been sleet or dry slot or both messing things up. If RIC is ever gonna break that 12" barrier again this storm has got to be it. The 18z GFS shows how we can do it but still the sleet gets close. GFS has trended colder for us the past day, hopefully it continues.
