Severe thunderstorm warning for a line of showers? I don't see anything close to severe.

It's been windy here in Dundalk, but outside the rain we got earlier nothing really. They closed schools early for this?

And if they hadn’t and it was storming when kids let out, people would complain. Schools cannot win either way and always better to err on the side of caution than not

Oh I understand that of course. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't type deal.

Exactly. I get why they did. Others may not and I have it easy as I work from home so it’s no biggie to me that mine came home early. I understand it’s not as easy for others.

No complaints about the storm here. Got a washout earlier and some periodic rain since. Few rumbles of thunder. Just not severe…though probably classifies as strong. We’re kind of a joke when it comes to severe weather…it’s just not our strength. We’re much better at variety.

Filtered sun again and that line missed me to the north. The watch getting canx'd here is almost begging to be punched in the stomach by the front this evening. 300-600 cape into 500-700 helicity should be good enough for a few mini-supers, imo -- so long as we are indeed done with this overturning crap.

Loudoun didn't send kids home early, but then my kids school ended up within one of the tornado warnings. No tornado of course, but kids were sitting in the hallway in the 'duck and cover' pose for 30 minutes. Ultimately not a huge deal, and since I was watching radar and know what to look for, I wasn't stressing about it at all.

I also know most people not only don't watch the radar, but wouldn't know what to look for even if they did. Probably a pretty anxious time for a lot of parents today.

Classic Mid Atlantic would be to get an EF-3 tornado or something run through the metros not 3 hours after they cancel the watch.

Watch the main event be coming and we all are giving up

From the SPC [https://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/md/md0277.html]

"The tornado watch will be cancelled in the wake of this line of storms. Some threat for damaging convective winds with the front this evening still persists, but will be handled with an additional watch later this evening if necessary."
