09-10 analogy Posted yesterday at 07:54 AM Share Posted yesterday at 07:54 AM I loved the way he'd pop in and get excited about weather a continent away. A generous spirit, and those are always missed. RIP.
gopper Posted yesterday at 01:01 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:01 PM Of course I never met Roger, but what stands out to me is how I feel like I really know a person based on content shared on this board. Everything I learned about Roger based on his posts tells me that he was a good, kind and smart man. His time on Earth was well spent as he shared his time and talents with others! We must all remember that our time here is short and we should do our best to make the most of every moment and to give of ourselves to the greater good of others. Live long and Prosper Roger!

Kudos He worked for Accuweather in 1979-80 and visited the DC area a few times, but he was just a fan of weather in general I think. But he used to tell me the Mid-Atlantic subforum was much friendlier and open to outsiders compared to others and that was often why he posted here.

Stradivarious
awful news. i will miss his posts. a suggestion…maybe there should be a thread created to honor those who have passed on who committed time and knowledge to all of us on this site… and who have made this weather site the go to place for weather information… People like Roger should not be forgotten…
RodneyS
I'm just getting this news on Friday afternoon. Roger put more time into forecasting contests than anyone, and I had a number of private conversations with him. He had a great story of how he and his colleagues at AccuWeather nailed the President's Day Storm of February 18-19, 1979 when nobody else did. RIP, my friend, see you down the road . . .
