It was a solid main batch with lightning and a bit of hail then two more smaller showers totaling 0.61. Nickle and dimed my way to 1.14" for the week so far.

Heck of a storm.  We lost power for several hours overnight. Tons of thunder and we ended up with 0.94" of rain.   I think that should get me through the rest of the growing season.

Sounds like I missed a bad one. Woke up to over 15 traffic reports of mostly downed trees.

Got missed by much of that rain. Picked up .12 on the backside. The older Ms J texted me close to midnight last night saying the rain woke her up in Bethesda it was coming down so hard.

This has been a very impressive week for PA. It's one of the more impressive non tropical events I can remember. Wave after wave of big time storm complexes for 5 straight days. Some places up there saw more thunderstorms than I've seen in the past 3 years combined. My backyard missed everything. I've had a couple passing showers from dieing storms. Drought is still the base state in my area.

Nothing here last two days but heat and humidity. Two back-to-back 92.0 degree highs, last one ALMOST set a record for date (93 degrees in 2011).

Time for the daily monsoon rains in the Western Maryland mountains. Feels more like Florida.

We don't seem to get normal rain anymore. Its blow out the gullies and wash away all that mulch and top soil from your new landscaping type rains. Even put in rip rap and culverts but those get overwhelmed.

My PWS recorded .35", but given that it fell in :10, and was falling sideways most of that time, maybe more?

It was nice and sunny and then suddenly black! I missed the storm last night but saw a lot of lightning on my camera. Supposedly this front finally pushes through tomorrow?

Late to the party, but I got absolutely crushed in the Lowlands around 1215-1230 last night. Woke me up out of my sleep. Thunder shaking the house and torrential rain. I managed to go back to sleep, thankfully, but that was a crazy little stretch when it came through. Reminded me of nocturnal storms in the Mississippi Valley.

A sudden change of plans yesterday evening saw me driving up late last night as opposed to first thing this morning.  I did not know about the storms coming until I hit I-70 around 9PM.  I only wish I had a dash camera to capture the wind and lightning I drove through - I sort of timed it perfectly to get the peak action between Sideling Hill and Big Savage.  Wasn't exactly the smartest night to be driving a 40 year old pickup across the Alleghanies, but I live to tell the tale.

Looking forward to having the windows open Sunday and Monday.

Thankfully, yes, 2 storms in 15 hours.  Feels so good.

This was the windiest storm of the year.  Pretty intense 15 minutes.  Best of all, the timing killed the afternoon heat!

Drove that stretch a lot, in all kinds of bad weather, before I-68 was there.  Rt 40/48 was a thrill ride crossing those hills, especially in thick fog or blowing snow.  Glad you and the truck made it safely.

Some cool weather new for Maryland/DC folks. Montgomery County is developing an extension to the statewide mesonet with a focus on suburban and urban tripod stations. This will be known as the Montgomery County Micronet, with at least four (4) additional stations coming online this autumn. The first site just went online this past week. @wxmeddler and I rushed this site to completion as the MCS dove south from PA and we got it online maybe 10 min before the storms came in. When all is said and done, we'll have stations about ever five to seven miles in Montgomery County.

You are all in perfect position for this! The Plume is coming straight at you! It's a massively East-Based Nino and you are right in the middle of it!

Just wait til the soil gets hypersaturated! Then you'll get to see something!
