Just got home after driving through heavy rain all the way through Calvert county. My rain gauge has 1.1" in it from the storms today so far. Solid drought remediation. Seems like more to come too. MN Transplant
I had to leave town for it to finally rain. My station says 1.24”. Radar seems to think that there is upwards of 3” in spots between my house and DCA.

SnowenOutThere
Rough cutoff over western fairfax county today. I’m sitting just under .3 while under a mile away is 1 inch plus. Suns now fighting to come out, hoping we still got a batch or two of rain left.

I'd love to see moderate rain all evening with a few rumbles of thunder. We deserve this!
dailylurker
Models definitely missed this one. I was expecting any decent rain to stay west of DC today and tonight. It looks like a fire hose aimed at PG and AA county. I was expecting this to be over Frederick this evening

Trust the Synoptics IMO the synoptic setup was screaming that this would be a flooding potential event. I'm really surprised that WPC dropped the ball and didn't at least put a slight out to I-64 starting a few days ago. LWX slowly started to realize the potential starting on Friday but the writing was on the wall starting on Wednesday.

The gaps in the precipitation and drought have largely spared the metros from any wider issues. If this rain came as one longer fused batch of precip, there would've been a few water rescues at least. On a similar note, I wish WPC would develop an event archive like SPC does. It would be great for research.

At least I didn't finish in last place this time - still way behind you for the past month plus though Massive screw up today on the models and corresponding forecast for sure ... Flood watches for the Valley and extreme drought areas but all the real rain was the 95 east areas...
