  1. 30 plus inches in roughly 5 hours in 1 night... Luckily the Madison county event in 95 occurred during the day with similar 30 inch totals - or the death toll there would have been extreme...
  2. It usually runs way too high on radar estimates versus actual ground truths especially on convective precip ....
  3. Yeah it's frustrating working over there in the current monsoon but living over here with no legit rainfall since late May.... I did get a dented up Jeep and cracked windshield - but so did almost everybody in our parking lot east of Pantops...
  4. Charlottesville to north of town just absolutely got socked over - one of the more powerful storms that I've seen in some time even for over here... And not even a sprinkle in my yard again - just saw more water in a hour than my yard has seen in 2 months - simply wild..
  5. Good holy hell here in Charlottesville right now
  6. Yeah I was right somehow managed only 0.11.... Up to 4.30 now since late May...
  7. Earlysville got slammed this go around.... Tree and power line damage is pretty widespread....
  8. I'm sure ill feel the same when I get home later and see the gauge...
  9. Nice ! It certainly got windy here... Looks like Draft got a hell of a sucker punch earlier.. Just looked at my numbers - I have received 4.19 total since May 29th... One quick drive through town up here looking at the lawns clearly shows the lack of rain until you get to the foot of Afton then it's a different world....
  10. Got another typical thunderstorm here 0.03 But kind of glad we missed this one... 0.60 for the month However there was a lot of wind here... Seeing reports in the Stuarts Draft area south of Waynesboro where they have had good rains recently - of signifcant wind damage to trees and power lines including trailers at the Hershey plant being blown over...
  11. Yeah it's crazy - I work out of Charlottesville - almost every day it's driving around at some point in some area in a tropical downpour... It's not like it's the entire valley - north toward Harrisonburg, west toward Staunton and south toward Stuarts Draft and obviously east is doing well... It's just one small area that simply refuses to produce convective rainfall right now ....
  12. Yeah this is wild - absolutely nothing again today This almost has to be the driest area in the mid Atlantic since the 3rd week of June. From here up past the old East Side race track is barely hitting 2 inches in 6 weeks( Im not sure exactly where you are located ) It is what it is... Im glad Tstorm/ convective season is slowly coming to an end now as we hopefully trend toward more synoptic precip in the next several months ...
  13. Not sure why they took Waynesboro Eastern Augusta off the extreme drought... Current situation up near CHO airport.. intense rains again.... large bolt just slammed something near or the runway itself - bolt seemed to freeze in air....
  14. 0.03 today !!!! 0.57 month !!! Finally got past the 2 inch mark total this week since late June... Seen drier periods down here but never a more frustrating 75 days.... Not 1 single direct hit or a real glancing blow from any convective shower or storm... It's been basically sloppy 4ths not 2nds here...
  15. At least I didn't finish in last place this time - still way behind you for the past month plus though Massive screw up today on the models and corresponding forecast for sure ... Flood watches for the Valley and extreme drought areas but all the real rain was the 95 east areas...
  16. Down here in the extreme drought area and flood watch area that was supposed to get the soaking rain today... Well it's been a rather sunny day after 0.43 this morning... Still well under 2 inches total since late June...
  17. Wow - likely wont happen at least here if its convective in nature - but that 1.96 would be more than the past 6 weeks combined.....
  18. Amazing ! I can see the discrepancy even locally - northern Augusta County toward Harrisonburg is so green and lush, towering fields of corn- south toward Stuarts Draft the same... In between well - brown grass thats crunchy now... Highest event for the month was 0.44 ..
  19. Nice cloud formation earlier looking north toward the distant action from Carters Mountain overlooking Charlottesville...
  20. O.00 today Monthly total will finish at 1.48 the extreme drought on the monitor from my location to western Albemarle is 100 % accurate... Another large and rather impressive storm earlier southern edge of town down to Stuarts Draft....
  21. Beautiful blue sunny skies and breezy.... 0.00 rain this morning
  22. Agree with you.... 1.48 here for the entire month... Northern Waynesboro across the SNP into the western / northwestern areas of Albemarle is extremely dry and dusty now... Very very low water levels in the Moormans / Doyles river basins in north western Albemarle.... Not surprising thats where the extreme drought is still showing on the drought monitor... Loud thunder outside with zero rain again from a storm south of town where there have been repeated deluges this month...
  23. 0.24 Monthly total now 1.48 Hasn't been this areas month for sure...
  24. And it appears that the 2nd show has already split to my north and SW... Have to go to DC and the Burtonsville area this evening - not looking forward to that..
  25. The customary 0.02 for today....
