The seeder feeder phenomenon is so cool, upper level clouds being seeded by lower level ocean salt nuclei

Isn't it the opposite...?

I could be wrong but I thought it was upper level clouds seeding and enhancing lower level OES cells?

It’s been a Great three week stretch. Not historic but very memorable...at least for me.

Agreed. It almost feels historic with the struggles the last few seasons. I have to remind myself I only put up 9.5" last season.

I can vouch, has been pretty impressive on the north shore the last couple of hours.

This should be out of BOS by 2130 or 2200

23z HRRR has flakes in the air at least until midnight for BOS

Verbatim another 2-3" for Boston metro, highest south shore with spots 4"

Best rates for Boston metro between 7-10pm and radar supports that

Yes, it's the mid to upper level cloud cover seeding the lower.

The mechanism is that the lower cloud may not generate snow or a lot of snow on its own (generally warmer temps lacking ice nuclei activation). So when an ice crystal is introduced from above it activates the lower cloud to form ice crystals, and the rest is Scooter running around his yard flapping in the breeze.

Figures I just cleared the driveway and now it decides to snow. Will, I've been meaning to ask. When was the last time we had a pack this deep for this long?
