December 16-17, 2020 Winter Storm Obs/Nowcasting

Recommended Posts

More and more optimistic about the euro being onto something for tonight seeing our winds veer to the north and the Radar blossoming to the south. That warm nose should be gone in the next hour or two for the favored spots as the low gets up to our latitude and wraps up as well. Closed h85 low right on top of us to help enhance some Precip returns.

Snow starting to mix back in here now

Looks like the CC line is accurate over the mountains.

Moderate snow in Waynesboro, VA. My son was so excited to see it after being disappointed earlier. It’s looking beautiful out now!

Yes it is.... Probably a inch of snow on top of the 1.5 of sleet....

what did deep creek end up with?

Still snowing and has been at a good clip the last hour+. Haven’t measured in awhile and have been kinda lazy with this one. I’ll just check storm reports and go with the closet McHenry obs.

I’m in Perry ,WV  15 miles west of Woodstock ,VA and I 81 and I’m at 2200’
Temp has help between 22 and 24 all day. 9” earlier then snow stopped three hours ago then we got a half inch of sleet. Now back to heavy snow with 2” additional.
I hope it keeps going for a couple more hours.

Radar to the sw is promising.  Hopefully its mostly snow . We'll see

Hopefully everything cools back down quickly however us being further east it still may take a while. Hope the warm layer isn't too stubborn. We should be at all levels to snow by 10PM or so.

Been without power for an hour now and a transformer just blew nearby me. Trees in my yard are weighed down with ice. I expect to not have power until tomorrow now. Snow coming to coat the ice soon, as well?
