Arguably the closest we came to a good winter was 2021 which was a Nina but it was slightly too warm in DC. I got 50” here

Which probably explains why I am so hateful right now. I got 28. Under climo. In fact my climo has dropped over an inch and a half in the past decade. That is ridiculous. 2016 is the last year I beat climo. And it was because of one storm. Yes it was an amazing 40 inch storm. But generally, it doesnt matter here anymore. Cold winter too far south, warm winter too far north. We just cant score here anymore. Add in the fact that i CHOSE this place to live 25 years ago for climate and it makes it that much more frustrating. Regardless I am really close to moving north soon. I am done with Virginia anyways.

Nice!  Looks like they got a flush hit from the ULL, though Raleigh seems to be getting snookered.

Forecasted that min too on the QPF and showed up in the snowfall forecast. Feel bad for those in RAH that wanted snow. I would be so mad, no joke, but weather going to weather, whether we like it or not :(

Tug Hill. You'll never lose.

Every big arctic blast goes thru there, you'll be knee deep in snow. Again and again and again. Get a good snowblower.

What happened on March 29, 1984?

IAD got 1.59” qpf with temps at high of 40 low 33, trace of snow. Too late in the season, but pull it up 1 month earlier it would have been a 16” snowstorm more or less.

I remember that morning well. Heavy rain overnight changed over to windswept heavy wet snow. NW suburbs an inch or 2. Far NW suburbs probably got 3-6. I've heard people say Catoctin's got upwards of 10.

And as @Terpeastmentioned, that was late March too. Roll that into February and you would be looking at a wall of white. That is a pretty Northern Hemi setup right there for these parts. Still need some luck in the storm department, but the look is pretty solid for potential.

Gotta feel bad for them after getting shafted by this storm and the one that hit us. At least we aren't them.

They had the equivalent of the Miller B screw zone that we get from the coastal transfers.  It's part of the sport.  Looks like radar is filling in there, so I'm sure they'll end up with a couple inches minimum.

I was in Carroll County back then. There was around 6" in Westminster, some of the wettest, most dense snow ever. It was almost like slush lol.

NAM kinda looks like it wants to do something. Anyway, good run for us.
ETA: Shit, I pulled a bnacho and was looking at 18z. 0z still looks decent.

Thought 0z looked better. Maybe we see daylight snow?
