Per Google Maps traffic the RA/SN line is basically Newburyport-Woburn-Natick-Hopkinton under some heavy banding. Grass shows white in the median on Route 2 east of 128, just up the road at 128 and Route 3 in Burlington it looks snowcovered. Tight gradient, perhaps a bit SE than advertised. Could be some nasty driving during the evening commute since media/BOX may have undersold the event.

And all of this during peak sun angle, too!

when the low gets abeam of those longituds/S of where you describe, the wind may back more abruptly N and accelerate modestly, flooding 28 to 30 F air S-E.  Flash freezing is distinct possibility and should be highlighted

Yup, you can see the battlezone marching NNW on radar. It's about 10-15 miles south of where I expected it to be.  Temp has crept up almost 2 deg since I bottomed out at 27.9 around 11AM. That r/s line should continue NNW for a few more hours before it might collapse back towards 128.  It's been mainly light snow 1.5" OTG 29.7/28.7.

Even with a calm storm like this,  the wind is blowing pretty good off the water.  Snow blowing sideways and drifting a bit as evidenced by clear deck rails.

Measuring at Pit2 is always an adventure.  The wind at the new pit1 can be pretty good too, but i'm not really eager to measure rain.

Just looked at the HRRR......it's not showing taint (or at least very little).  Meanwhile, it shows it ripping here from 4:00 - 10:00.  Bring it.

I'm trying not get my hopes up but it and a few others have been consistent with that. It has been snowing here since around 8am but not much in terms of rates and have about 3" down.

Check out the updated GYX statement I just posted in the other storm thread.

Temp now creeping above 30F

You can tell the warmth aloft is getting closer to ground as there’s way less sleet now and the accretion is mostly stopped. The previous glaze is still on bushes and other surfaces but the rain is mostly just running off it now.

Short term guidance has been getting better and better for later this evening. Hoping to finish with a few hours of steady snow.
