Long duration sustained and wind gust is just going to be a huge problem even in restoration power efforts, Its the old phrase of shoveling shit against the tide.

Tonight
A chance of snow and freezing rain before 11pm, then rain and snow likely between 11pm and 1am, then rain after 1am. Temperature rising to around 38 by 5am. Northeast wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Friday
Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 50. Windy, with an east wind 20 to 25 mph increasing to 25 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Friday Night
Rain likely before 10pm, then a chance of snow showers between 10pm and midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 23. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Yep, trees can handle only so much thrashing before they snap.  The quick back and forth temp change messes with their equilibrium as well.

How often do we actually gust to over 40 miles an hour? Not often around here.
