TJW014
Despite the higher air temps, it feels significantly nicer today compared to yesterday. Can really tell it's less humid.

The window units don't work that well when it's this incredibly hot. With 2 of them going yesterday my living room still got up to 84 degrees. Obviously I have a problem with super heated air up in the attic.

Yea the last time we had widespread 100s here was 2011. My PWS at the time wasn't properly sited but reached a high of 104, probably 100-101 if it was in a good spot I think we also hit 100+ in 2010, we had so many days that summer with a hot NW wind Up to 98 right now with the sea breeze still holding off for now

We have a small house, but upstairs is 105 right now because it's not air conditioned. Downstairs however stays around 76 with just one unit running. Heat rises so it shouldn't matter as much. NorthShoreWx
12 hours ago, jm1220 said: Now imagine this every single day for 3-4 months, with a stronger sun since you're in the South. That's TX and what I dealt with in 2015-16. And no, in Austin it's not a dry heat. I hated it really quick-you can't do anything outside until the evening or early morning, and even in the evening it's often still in the upper 90s. I went from record never ending deluge in May 2015, historic Memorial Day floods and severe to not a drop after in June and baking until October when we had another record deluge from the remnants of Hurricane Patricia. I remember baking in the 90s Austin in March. At least the evenings were a little better at that time of year. Min this morning was 76. 97 now. I mowed the lawn in the backyard this morning while it was still in the shade, but the temp was already up to 90.

Especially in highly urbanized areas (EWR, NYC PHL etc.) with the heat coming off the pavement and buildings. Also for those with no a/c. Just stifling outside overnight. Can't imagine no a/c. Yet people did it back in the day but I just can't imagine how miserable that must have been. Guidance suggesting some widespread rainfall later Sunday / Monday. I worked in the bowels of Penn Station for 7 hours a day for almost 20 years where it was regularly 10 degrees warmer (or cooler in the winter) than actual temperatures and it’s days like today where I wonder how the hell I did it. And, wasn’t like I was standing around doing nothing, I was doing physical labor and in pants and socks too. I made pretty good money doing it, but I 100 percent would not go back to doing it. It was tolerable a few weeks in April and October for the most part, lol either freezing or sweltering the rest of the year. 1
