  1. Still about 90% sunshine here. Up to 73. Wildfires sparking in Wharton State Forest
  2. It's gorgeous out. Full sun. Up to 70
  3. Definitely possible if we trend drier. Also tend to be a little warmer than guidance once the sun's out. Nightfall, especially by me, the sugar sand loves to radiate off throughout the night. Could see mid 20s. Good shot at a 50 degrees temperature change.
  4. Back to back lows of 27 here.
  5. Started off at 27. Radiational cooling doing its thing in the Pine Barrens. Probably get to around 60 before the inevitable sea breeze pushes in. Good to see the sun out again
  6. Reached 84 yesterday. Up to 74 from 47 this morning.
  7. Nice thunderstorm around 3:30 AM. Serious wind gusts too. Island Beach State Park peak gust of 64 MPH.
  8. Balmy 68 here. Dew point up to 63. Getting breezy.
  9. Bummer for yesterday. I had a family friend offer me a place to stay at their property in Maine, but luck would have it that I developed a sinus infection coupled with bronchitis on Sunday. The medication makes me feel drowsy, so there was no way I was going to drive nine hours by myself. To add insult to injury, cloud cover spoiled the chance to see the crescent sun here at home. I'll have to wait another 21 years to watch it with my family in Florida—provided it's not submerged by then. On a positive note, today is looking gorgeous. Widespread 70s, somewhere inland will hit 80. afternoon sea breeze could dampen the enjoyment at the beaches, but I'm planning to soak up some much-needed vitamin D.
  10. The walls were shaking, the Earth was quaking, and our minds are aching.
  11. Just Chris Christie falling down the stairs. No need to panic
  12. Peaked at 48 mph overnight at the shore. Definitely felt worse than that. Dime-size hail with the severe-warned storm around 6 PM.
  13. Right on cue. KDIX lately always happens to be down whenever it really is needed.
  14. 6 years ago today, had 15" on the ground.
  15. This is also worth monitoring. The somewhat positive aspect is that the winds are expected to be most powerful immediately following the frontal passage overnight on Wednesday/Thursday. It will remain pretty at daybreak, but the wind should diminish somewhat by the afternoon when the relative humidity begins to decrease significantly."
  16. Starting off at 37 this morning. Forecast here is 72. 2 miles to my east, 52. Sea breeze doing sea breeze things.
  17. They can't even get the cloud cover right for the current day sometimes. Could be forecast with 99% sun and all it takes is one cloud to completely ruin the experience. Planning on hitting the northern ADKs that Sunday, camping over, then hiking up Lyon Mountain
  18. Winds decoupled last night, and managed to drop down to 34 degrees. Gonna make a run for the mid-60s today, maybe a little cooler along the shore, but WNW flow should prevent the marine layer from blowing in
  19. Peak gust nearby to me was 55 mph at Island Beach State Park around 11:15 AM. Gusting in the mid 40s now
  20. Balsam Lake Mountain from yesterday. Was expecting 5-8" up top (3723 FT) but instead was surprised with about 0.75" of freezing rain and an inch of snow on top. Wind was no joke. Throughout the whole hike could hear branches snapping with each gust. This picture at the fire tower I am crouched down holding on for dear life. Impossible to stand straight up. Probably 50-60 mph gusts.
  21. A considerable change in the direction towards the south with less than 48 hours remaining
  22. So, I had planned snowshoeing Balsam Lake Mountain in the Catskills on Monday morning... This should be fun...
  23. Beaches have been f*cked up and down the east coast this past year. I regularly fish at Island Beach State Park, and we typically lose a little bit of beach in the winter and spring, but it builds back in the summer and fall. December and January were absolutely brutal. Some spots on the beach that typically are 50 yards wide, are now almost impassible at high tide. Sand is the softest I've ever seen it, and I've had to winch out stuck trucks and SUVs near constantly
  24. 2.25" of rain yesterday (24 HR total). Nice to get a little bit of a break today and tomorrow, my backyard is a pond. One more round of rain Saturday, then a much needed dry out until the end of next week.
