Northern Ocean County. The breezes that make the water in LI nice and warm make the water here a cold plunge. Been a much more common occurrence over the last couple years.
Just got out of the water. It's freezing. 4mm wetsuit, no boots. Water temp of 54 according to my watch, and that typically reads 1-2 degrees warmer.
Sea breeze already in effect, should keep the beach in the low 80s again
It most certainly is at the beaches at northern Ocean County. The buoys 15 miles offshore never get the localized upwelling. It's usually within 3 miles of the coast.
Sea breeze as expected doing its thing today. 80 here, 75 on the barrier island. Up to 90 a mile inland. Water's ice cold from upwelling again. Back down to 58.
There will be a lot of water rescues over the next few days.
Sea breeze always wins out along the coast with this heat. Upper 80s will feel fantastic next week and the weekend.
Ocean temps finally warmed to where I can tolerate it without a wetsuit.
Anything that will have the potential to be severe needs to pop off between now and sunset. "Squall" line comes in too late.
Sea breeze storm euthanasia is well inland here.
