So a big *wow* at that super-strike the other night.   Talking with a Leesburg FD person in church this morning - they got a bunch of calls from people reporting "a big explosion".   And this is 15 miles from where the strike happened.  I can't image how loud it must have been in Brunswick.   Anyone happen to have any direct reports or pictures of where it struck?

Some are likely shopping for a new computer, printer, TV, etc today. Happened to my parents last summer with an explosive nearby strike. Unplugging is a good idea when prolific lightning is expected as it removes the physical path for electromagnetic surges.

lol that’s awful. In other news, I like my Trek FX 2 so far, but sometimes I want a road bike that has those style of handlebars like what the Trek Domane has. Certainly could see the benefit on longer rides (though mine are more neighborhood fitness loops).

I just got my second Domane.  The first one had to get retired to the trainer after 30,000+ miles.  I love both of them.  The new one is espeically nice because it has disc brakes, which means I can run wider tires.  I've got 32s on it, and the ride is so much smoother than the 28s I had on my old Domane.  If you opt for a road bike, the Domane is a great choice.

Nice, that’s a lot of mileage lol. Going from the Roscoe (which I still have) to the FX on road has been a huge upgrade, but it seems like it would struggle on anything except maybe gravel, so I’m almost inclined now to consider more of a road bike like the Domane. I’ll have to see how much I get into the road biking. I used to only ride the trails and then rocks once I moved to Frederick, but road biking has been more convenient and I have one hill nearby that’s punchy enough to get a solid workout.

Went out to Annapolis today and it was amazing. 15 deg cooler along the water. Hancock low of 35 and High of 90 is crazy. We never get a diurnal of 55 degrees. I'm gonna have to take a look back and see when that last happened in the state.

As far as I can tell, the 90F high temperature measured in Hancock today by the Mesonet was the highest temperature measured in Maryland for the date (03/22). The previous record was 88F (tied at multiple sites and dates). It's definitely not the March all-time though ; That record is 97F on 03/30/1998 in Downtown Baltimore.

WOW Dale City hit 84/54 today, in late March?!!!!

Dale City's normal temperatures are a high of 56, a low of 37 degrees.

This is going to be a VERY VERY hot summer! Some locations in the Mid Atlantic got hotter than Buda today which only managed to eke out mid 80s.

Mammoth is averaging 50s and 60s and the snow is getting very shallow all over. To all intents and purposes the jet stream is up north for good and it is now late spring early summer in the Sierra. Snowmelt is rapid and many resorts will be forced to close early. Earliest end to winter up there in a century.

I didn’t think your area could even reach 90 on March 22. There are no guardrails anymore lol

Not sure what on earth is happening, but something is definitely up this summer.

Oh wait! It's early Spring!

Set a new record high for the date of 83.9 degrees, beating old mark of 81 degrees from 2012. Interesting morning here, had two rounds of thunderstorms almost back to back between 4 and 6 am. First one had a 35 mph gust, AND the temp rose 8 degrees (from 56 to 64) in just a few minutes right in front of the first storm.

Oh I got an idea. So do most climate scientists

Yeah, I'm far from an expert, but the idea that this pattern would produce 90 degree temperatures in March in the Mid Atlantic really seems abnormal. 70s, sure. But this doesn't look record breaking. I would think you'd need a big Bermuda High and a ridge centered over the East Coast itself. image.thumb.png.787a4efb61c7eeff7e8b99f601278978.png
