My sister in Charlotte, SC sent us a video of a show shower yesterday afternoon so yeah it was snowing there.

So, I called it a 0.1" for first accumulation of the season here. Interesting day and night, winds a steady 15-20 with gusts into mid 30's blew snow, what did accumulate, into corners and against objects. Enough on the snowboard to say 0.1 official at 7 am, but only because a slightly heavier flurry was falling and the winds eased up the 5 minutes or so before I checked. Actually it warmed up after 4 am when it was 19.5 degrees. Currently 23.5/14.2 at 8 am with flurries still falling and WNW 14/19 winds.

Low of 31.5°. It was 32.9° at 1AM so really thought it would do something more. First freeze regardless, and about 2 weeks ahead of last year.

The delivery of the coldest air missed us to the SW and West. 

The SE and other locations had the largest negative departures plus snow showers.

Can confirm.  Got down to 30.1 here.  Both my middle schooler and high schooler stuck with hoodies.

Congrats VA Beach, Atlanta, Charlotte, Outer Banks on their first flakes. Hopefully we get a bigger storm than New Orleans this winter lol. 

29 here in the lowlands this morning. Beautiful stretch of weather on tap. I love outdoor fun this time of year.

Ah I remember those days going past the bus stop and seeing all the boys in shorts with bone chilling wind and temps. 

That being said, what a rude morning. Am still doing farm chores and it took an hour to clean 2 stalls and feed. Mind you it was all on the West side of Furnace Mountain. Knew I was in for it when I turned the car on this morning and after it registered the actual outside temp it warned me to watch for ice on the roadways.

This brief cold shot reminds me of what most of November 1977 was like. Repeated frontal passages followed by cold stratocumulus skies.

Low  of 29 which is coldest of  season and winds keep up and homogenized DCA  operational bias and kept them consistent with other nearby stations with a DCA low of 31
