January 12-13th Cold Smoke Obs and Nowcast

Recommended Posts

Icon dead set and unwavering with the backside ccb precip tomorrow. Hard to believe it might snow until sundown tomorrow. We all tossed the models showing 30 hours of snow in the midrange. One for the memorybanks for sure

Radar already looking better to the SW. Dendrites seem to have replaced pixie dust as the default dark blue/light green on radar snowflake type.

Hopefully that will help us squeeze out another inch or two....

30 and snowing again. Too light to cave the wet streets for now.

I worry a bit the snow will never stay heavy  enough long enough to overcome the UHI in immediate Metro. We’ll see, but that is only thing I can see that limits this potential. It is late January, but not like the Jan 30 2010 storm where it was in low 20s throughout the storm.

Gettin ready to head to the woods. As long as the cops don't show up it should be a great jebwalk with the dog and teen kids. I set a great example

Have fun! I hiked back to a pond in the upper patuxent state park earlier. The snow had just started and was lightly coating the frozen pond. Winter in the parks is awesome.

Street in front of the house is fully caved.  Cross street, which always seems to take longer despite being a less major road, is about halfway there.

2.3”.  Not exactly “cold smoke”, though.

The lights aren’t twinkling, Clark!
