wind is starting to get feisty...unfortunately, I had no where to mount my weather station that would provide no obstructions from all wind directions...for this event the wind has a southerly component and the anemometer is on the north side of the house...sitting in my room, the wind is strong enough to moan, and the house has taken a few decent gusts

I was guessing these were aggregates, but maybe i's just good growth here too.

You can get the wet aggregates where the flakes are wet and stick together forming large 1-2" flakes or the dry aggregates. The dry ones are typically dendritic because you need the "feathered" flakes typically to get them to cling together like velcro. Plates and needles don't aggregate (verb?) very well. I took a quick check outside and they were definitely individual crystals that were falling and not clumps of dry aggregates.

Thanks.  If/when they commence again, I'll check.  Now we're just sitting with some meh flakes as we sit in a sn- lull.

28F- Been dumping pretty good here past 45 mins.

Roads went downhill quickly--evidence is a vacationer from NJ sliding off the road hitting my wife's car.

FWD + bald all season tires FTL big time-and he was heading up to Okemo--good luck with that drive.

That sucks.  Perhaps we should reopen the snow-tire discussion.  :) I was a little wary of all the CT/NY'ers heading to Mount Snow this morning.,

I hate missing this one being in NC through New Years. BTV has not had a warning level event since Feb 2015 and I have been waiting since then. With an inverted trough they may get there with this one. These days it is hard to say if there will be another shot at some point this winter. Nothing is guaranteed.

Not doing much of anything right now after a nice burst deposited around 1"-1.5", but there are good echoes W and S of me, so hopefully we'll get going again. Temp up to 32.5°F thanks to a SE wind and downsloping.

Although I don't think downslope will play a big role with regards to QPF, it will act to warm my BL temps enough to reduce ratios. 4-6" should be about it here I think...as this thing will end around 00z locally.
