Even though the HRRR was too low and the 3km NAM was too high, I'll give them both credit for correctly calling that temps would keep slightly falling after sunrise.  IAD is still sitting around their low of 3 or 4, BWI is still about 13.  I got down to 8.6 at 8am.

But our big local winner looks like it is Manassas at -1.  Colder than any of the MD Mesonet sites except for Garrett Co.

Low was 9.3 at 7:30 am. Up to 14 currently. Going to go out and chip out some left over snow at the end of the drive in the street that the plow ran over.

The older Ms. J in DC got another day of campus closed and zoom classes. The younger Ms. J in PA will be trucking across campus for classes as campus is open today. Told her welcome to school in the North. Told her my memory of walking to class at my school in NW Ohio and got into the building with my eye lashes frozen together due to the wind chill.

Low was 1.8 degrees here, agree with @EastCoast NPZ, wind probably helped hold temp up a bit. Set a new 'cool max' for the date with the 19.0 high, old mark was 22 degrees in 1982. Nowhere near record low, that is -5 from 1987. The 1.8 with the W at 7 mph wind makes a WC of -11.

1.8 was as cold as I got from 5 am thru 8 am, it bobbled between 1.8-2.5 during that time. Now that sun is out and winds have turned SW?  I'm at 8.8/-3.0 at 9:45 am.

Winds definitely stayed up last night and prevented the low single digits in most places. Those that did go calm got to the advertised 5 deg-ish fairly easily.

Look at all the ice that got pushed to the east side of the bay yesterday to Kent Island. IMG_4977.thumb.jpeg.c4d4b6be287a1eb89c2c13621ea9500a.jpeg
