Ding ding ding. I am essentially in the triangle NE of Westminster, W of Hampstead, and SW of Manchester.

I drove in those roads going thru the fields in the ne from West. To Man after Snowmaggedon and it was 4-5’ everywhere

the forecasted radar at 1am is literally what's falling right now. maybe it's getting the timing wrong?

Based off the latest SPC meso analysis, the best cold air advection at 925/850 mb appears to be cresting the I68/I-70 interchange in western MD. Might wave to wait for that to get a bit closer before we see temps really fall off. Seems like everything is on track.

This band isn’t the main show. If it is everything has gone horribly wrong. But no reason to think that yet.

I am starting to think DC roads aren’t gonna cave. Which is fine I guess. Just not as fun

We are still 6 hours away from snow in the DC beltway.

Special weather statement for the counties to the west of the WWA:

...QUICK HITTING PERIOD OF SNOW TONIGHT...

Precipitation will overspread the area through the late evening
and overnight. While some rain is possible at the onset, a
changeover to snow is likely. Bands of snow with brief moderate to
heavy rates are possible, which could provide quick accumulations
of a coating to an inch and reduce visibility to less than one
half mile. By the time snow ends early Sunday morning, some
localized totals of 1 to 2 inches are possible. Overall,
precipitation may only last 2 to 4 hours at any given location.

Temperatures will drop below freezing by daybreak, so any areas
that are wet could freeze, especially on untreated and elevated
surfaces.

I know it's nowcast time... but here is 00z NAM

00z 3km NAM

Interesting to see the tiny stripe of higher totals on both NAMs in S DE. Noteworthy enough that the local CBS met mentioned it on a Livestream and bumped his snowfall forecast south to account for it.

I think this is the first time my point and click has had a forecast of 2 - 4 but with no WWA.

I guess because once you get past hagerstown models don't show much.

Majority of Washington county will probably see at max of an inch.
