Interesting radar, showers moving east and west, I expect a black hole to open up when they collide.   2.37” for this event.   Grass is living it!

Was gonna post the same. Stuff out near Hagerstown going west, everything else going east.

Washington, DC has now picked up 1” or more of rain in two consecutive hours. The last time that occurred was June 25, 2006.

I remember that storm - I lived in Georgetown at the time (across the street from Rose Park) and Rock Creek Parkway had turned into a raging river.  Crazy amounts of rain.

about 3.5" here downtown, so not as much as DCA but it was pouring overnight.  Drainage is extremely good around here though so we almost never have any flooding (everything just flows into Rock Creek and the Potomac).

2006 was my most impressive personal rain event ever.  8.5” when done and visited Lewisdale  properties with basements full of water to the ceiling and water gushing out the side doors up the stairwell when opened.

Ian and I stupidly drove up to silver spring/Bethesda where they were truly getting the goods and almost got stuck in a street river.  Chasing flash flooding is a new low. Lol.

The most dangerous chase of my life happened here in CT. I was trailing a line of severe thunderstorms and crossed an area that had flash flooding ongoing. That was as white knuckle a drive as I’ve ever done.

Fun fact, I carry a life jacket on most of my chases just in case…

I wonder how often Newark is 88, Raleigh is 94.  And DCA 71. Without sone localized thunderstorm.

76 with full sun at 11 am on July 11 is fantastic!  Got some good gardening done this morning.  Looking ahead is mostly 80s with maybe near 90 a couple days.  One of my son's friends just moved to Austin and is in shock over the temps there.

I had to travel to Austin last week for work.   It was only about 100.  Yesterday it topped off at 109.   They have been having a crazy hot year so far.

Heh.

90 degree days

7 so far this summer

9 for the year (we had two in May)

Average for summer/annual: 34/40

longest 90 degree streak : 2 days

norms start decreasing in 2-3 weeks

june was a -0.3 (coolest since 2009) and July is around -1.3 after today

this is no 2000, 2003, 2004 but reasonable chance of coolest summer since 2009

As the kids like to say -

this summer f-ucks
