Before that you probably need to go back to 2002 for a valley crush job. Jan 2011 was quite good in the valley albeit ramping up going east. Anyway, such is our climo, we get a little cut of action to the west and to the east with the occasional planetary alignment megaband.

tiger_deF
Really hope we see more tuck coming up in tonight's model runs. Euro, ICON, and some earlier runs of other models have shown a the beginnings of of tuck with due N/NNW motion for portions of the approach. The storm tucking in or not is the difference between widespread 2'+ and sporadic areas of 12-18 IMO

When you first move north, you keep that coastal synoptic storm mentality that’s climatology for most of the urban/suburban population centers. Need the larger setups to work out or it won’t snow. That’s when you start looking for members of the SREFS or various ensembles. Another decade later and you watch it like you’d watch a close sporting event/game, even if they aren’t your favorite teams.

CT Valley Dryslot
I don't think the GFS OP is quite there yet, in general. GEFS have been much more consistent.

CT Valley Dryslot
Those RECON dropsondes in the Pacific should be helpful in the coming runs. GFS really has no clue what it wants for the PAC vort.
