This is most likely the scenario unfolding unless you head North and/or West of Fair Lawn.

If NYC / Newark gets more than 6inches from this storm Ill eat crow.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST
THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Total snow accumulations of 8 to 14 inches,
  except for 4-8 inches for southern portions of Nassau and
  Suffolk Counties. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey and southeast New
  York.

* WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The
  hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening
  commute. Gusty winds could bring down scattered to numerous tree
  branches.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is still some uncertainty with the
  timing and duration of any mixing that occurs tonight. If mixing
  occurs earlier than forecast, snowfall amounts will be lower
  than forecast, particularly across southern coastal portions of
  the region.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Check local Department of Transportation information services for
the latest road conditions.
