Despite not having had a long duration, soaking rain for what seems like months, we’ve been lucking out with these forecast over performers for the past few weeks now.  Haven’t had to water the in-ground garden for some time now.

I was expecting a whiff, and apparently so was Mt Holly given they changed the forecast totals for overnight into this morning to a tenth or less.

Morning CAMs suggest a heavy rainfall threat Saturday evening (timing unsurprisingly still somewhat in doubt).   Good signal for convection spreading east ahead of a shortwave into an axis of very high PWs and some instability.

   Besides the overall NAM Nest struggles this summer that you've documented, this looks to be a classic case of the NAM being too slow with the system, causing it to arrive at a very unfavorable time.    Its timing is a clear outlier for now.

Being a half mile north of you must have helped me this time.  0.08" overnight.  Noticed leaves falling off trees in my neighborhood.  No color let.  Guess it is stress from dry/hot summer.
