All Allegany county schools closed today due to flooding

Yep. Several creeks/branches out of their banks, although the river has crested and gone down a bit. 0.71" here, another rainfall record, breaks 1999's 0.67", and an event total of 3.39". The western end/side of the county got a LOT more water, especially yesterday, with two day totals in the 5-7 inch range.

Just realized that was for MD, but my county (with an 'H') also had schools closed due to flooding. There are four counties named Alleghany or Allegany in the Appalachian region.

Frederick Scanner reporting a water rescue in Walkersville at Devilbiss Bridge Rd./ Monocacy River. Apparently someone put in a kayak and it was found without the Kayaker.

Also mountain rescue on Appalachian Trail at Annapolis Rock.

Oof, didn't think about the hikers on the AT. Those people went through a heck of a ride last night.

Those fokes up there are no weekend hikers. I perfer extreme winter conditions so I don't do tropical rain like the Appalachian trail hikers. I perfer blizzards and extreme cold. Don't worry. They knew it was coming and everyone either enjoyed it or hunkered down.

Just fished the Monocacy last week and it was at about 2'.  Currently at almost 13'.  You gotta be a little off to try putting in a kayak.

Point of rocks is set to crest at almost 23'.  Been quite a while since we've had a good flush but unfortunate timing as the female smallmouth will abandon their beds in high flow.

The CWG "forecast radar" should really not be shown. It's garbage. It doesn't seem to take into effect the forward speed of storms. If you look at it right now, for example - it indicates the storms/rain in Southern Maryland are just going to rocket northward magically. It also doesn't morph the storms realistically at all...it just takes a snapshot and a general motion and essentially copy and pastes it a increments.

Several big storms firing up in the southwest corner of Delaware moving northward

Looks like northeast flow at the surface and southerly flow aloft. Probably enough convergence and limited instability to get a few cells firing up where the sun broke out a bit.
