We had a few graupel showers here over the past couple of hours, with temps in the low 40s. This is the latest in the season that I've ever seen wintry precip. Previous record was May 10-11, 2014, when we had a dusting of snow.

I'm guessing graupel qualifies as snow....

May 9th 1923, 11 inches fell in Lansing, MI.

O wow!

I see there's some pretty good snow shower just to your west. Three Lakes in the thick of it right now.

Sitting at 44° here.

HRRR for tonight at 9z. Actually running about 3-4° too warm this afternoon.

As cyclone said, it's not terrible out over here with low 50s and sun.  The wind is gusting over 35 mph, but it actually felt good on my face while mowing(had winter coat and stocking cap on)... plus the wind dried the grass out nicely so the mowing was easy.

Models have delayed the real warm stuff a bit more.  They are now bringing some light rain across the area Friday, which could hold us below 60 again if it pans out that way.  DVN is thinking a dry ridge will hold the precip farther south.

Note 1973 showing up, one of my top analogs going into next winter.

Some of the hi-res models develop a decent lake effect band across the Cleveland area for a few hours tomorrow morning...with a WNW flow and shortwave moving through its plausible. Would like to see 850mb temps of around -7C as that's when LES starts to accumulate in October...they're progged to be around -6C in the morning. Really close. I'm not holding my breath...but we've been seeing small hail in the heavier showers this evening and think some non-accumulating lake effect snow showers are likely in the morning tomorrow.

Wet snow falling at DTX's office per twitter right now.

Winter weather radar showing some scattered snow showers from Pontiac back towards Lansing and then up towards Big Rapids right now.

Cleared out about 15 minutes ago, already 38°.
