Anyone in Anne Arundel seeing anything more than flurries? This is a real snoozer down here. Light flurries for an hour now

Steady mod snow in Crofton, a little over an inch now..

Obviously includes what fell on Monday, but this is total of what's on the ground right now.

Disc that dry slot punching from the south southwest, are we doomed? Next heavy batch won't be for another two hours looks like. Guess sleet and freezing rain by then?

Temps are running cold so far compared to MOS.. like 3-5 cold or so.

As in 3 to 5 degrees colder than what MOS has us at this hour/time?

We should take a look at all the model output again as regards accums. I dont remember which models showed 3 inches, but they were dead on for me. Also, it appears that the people along the east side of the precip shield like myself were waiting quite a while for snow to start. I think there is a moisture gradient along the east side of the slug, on an approximate line with Dale City lol, and that along this moisture gradient, for lack of a better term, (I am no meteorologist) snow amts will be sharply lower than farther west along the main snow axis which appears to be about I'd say 50 miles west of Dale City and extending on a SW/NE axis. The exception is Maryland. Much of that state is one gigantic BULLSEYE for heavy torrential snow.

So, I'll be fairly happy with 2-3 inches along the so-called Dale City Axis, and Leesburg will dig out of the heavy snow along the Leesburg Axis. Marylanders will be crippled by snow in the Maryland Bullseye lol

Forecasting for Prince William is agonizing at best. Ours is such a LOOOOOOOONG county. The climate in Dale City is can be so different from that in Manassas. Today is a stark example. There are times when I believe that meteorologists should draw a line thru the middle of Prince William, place the west under a warning and place the east half under a watch lol. I am not blaming the Mets - I am merely illustrating the difficulties of forecasting in this part of Virginia lol.

Anyway, enjoy the storm. It was sure one hell of a ride tracking this, and it will be long remembered all along the Leesburg Axis and in the Maryland Bullseye! I know I'll enjoy mine.

Excellent synopsis!

As of 1pm, 1.25 inches measured in multiple spots around Nats Park (Navy Yard) area.

Temp is up to 21 (had fallen to 19 during moderate snow rates).

+SN.  Probably close to 2", but haven't measured.  Flakes are a mix of needles, plates and columns, but rates are beating ratios right now.

2.5"

Still +SN, small flakes but 1/4 mile visibility and breezy.

Lol how do you measure this stuff? I can hardly tell it's sticking because of the wind, but I guess I probably have an inch.

1:00 Heavy snow 5.8 inches total. Picked up 1.4 inches in the past hour. I just finished my first shoveling of the driveway. The rates dropped off for about ten minutes and I immediately went to a sleet/snow mix. But once the rates increased it went right back to all snow again. At This rate of snowfall I am almost assured to reach the high end of guidance. Just looking at radar I would think 10+ is a lock. The NWS upped my totals to 8-12 FWIW. This snow is much heavier weight wise then the fluff we had earlier in the week. But this is now my biggest storm of the year.

I measured on the driveway... with these temps it should be no problem. I think I'll wait till it's over before clearing it.
