700 mil bar winds being west Northwest, north of the warm front is the problem

It kept it pinned down there in southern PA, despite having southwest wind at the surface on either side of the boundary.

It gets sawed off aloft.  All we get  is residual elevated convective blips amid strata rains.  Cool and humid. 

that phenomenon of the winds bending back southeast north of the warm front preventing it from coming in as something I’ve seen in this part of the country quite frequently actually over the decades I’ve lived here.  Meanwhile, warm front looks in the pgf like it’s  in a laminar flow/no resistance, but they just don’t move because of it.

Nothing but strataform rain here…in both waves. A complete bust in regardes to anything severe. I don’t even think we had a rumble lmao. Just goes to show, You just don’t know….especially with regards to severe in SNE.  But good soaking rains we did get.

Was in NYCA for fanaticsfest today. Man they were getting clobbered for a while around noonish. But looks like we got about 1.50 inches of rain back home, but no severe per my wife. Bleh.

Zero severe here in central CT.  Not even a rumble. But good rain’s,  so it was a gain.

The underrated days are often the best days. Tends to be a good rule of thumb around here. 

So many of our higher end days seem to be conditional, so it's no surprise that up here those conditions are harder to meet than most other places that get storms.

0.21" brings the month to exactly 1.00".  Yesterday's gloomy clouds made for a high of only 63.  With a low of 47, the mean was 11° BN.  Looks like July 2026 won't set a new warmest month, though I expect it to finish AN (currently 2.7 AN).

Yesterday didn’t really bust. The greatest threat for severe weather was off to the West, in which there were a quite a few reports, including at least one tornado. Threat was always lower here and worth watching.

I saw a video from around Deposit, NY of damage from that tornado. I’ll be curious what the rating will be on it.
