Herb@MAWS
Columbia pre-snow hi temp 35.1 4:30pm - 29.9 Widely scattered on/off flurries began 1pm but snow didn’t pick up in intensity until 1:45 and it quickly became heavy, tiny flakes. Eyeballing about 1” so far altho 0.75” is more conservative/accurate(?). Will wait until this round ends. Roads and walks fine. Of the list of items we usually monitor to confirm “first signs of stickage”, the last one today in my ‘hood was car tops, just not what I expected. I’ll blame it on that damn morning veiled sunshine.

When I left Kernstown (3 miles north) earlier there looked to be close to an inch on grassy surfaces and trees. 1

I hiked Seneca regional park (super pretty, pictures will come later) but didn’t notice a different between the top of the hills and the Potomac at the bottom. Guess everything was cold enough.

Alright so let's say there's a specific elevation that's the threshold between sticking and not sticking. If you were to put two steps made of the exact same concrete a foot apart vertically...would the snow stick on one and not the other?

clskinsfan
Its over here. Just some flurries around. I am going to go with 2 inches here. Was probably more at some point. But I wasnt here to see it. Second biggest event of the winter here. Which is ridiculous. But this event did get me over a foot for the winter. Is what it is.
CAPE
Obligatory pic. Didn't pay much attention and wasn't expecting much, but did notice some of the guidance this morning had a streak of 'heavier' precip through here. Wasn't even snowing when I left work in Easton. Nice little finale if this is indeed the end of winter. Just over an inch. Next- early summer in a few days. 7

coolio
Drove from FFX to Arlington at around 5. It was 31 degrees the whole time when I was on 50 (car thermometer). No spin outs or anything but detected some crunchiness. I think we have a warm up tonight but if there is nothing, it's gonna be hairy for folks. This was inside the beltway.
