A Southern gentleman for sure. He will be greatly missed. HA! He was born in Hoboken. If he heard you call him a Southern Gentleman he would have been quite amused. 2

nrgjeff
John I'm sorry for your loss. Cancer took both my parents. Thinking of you and all of your family. This community also misses your dad. Yeah he was solid on the weather side and insightful in politics. I remember great weather discussions for the Southeast though I'm Tennessee Valley.
RaleighNC
Thanks, everyone. There are three options we have chosen for memorials other than flowers. Leukemia and Lymphoma Society - www.lls.org The Hospital at Home Program c/o Atrium Health Foundation 7800 Providence Rd. Suite 208, Charlotte, NC 28226 Or your local NPR station that plays classical or jazz music. As my Dad would probably point out, all three of these things - cancer research, healthcare coverage for average people of limited means, and the arts and public broadcasting are under assault from some of those bullies that Pop so detested. So your support of any of them would be greatly appreciated.

Tullioz
So sorry to hear about the loss of your father. I always enjoyed reading his posts, and I'll never forget the epic photo he often shared of his back deck and grill from the February 2004 snowstorm. He will be missed.

snowlover2
My condolences to you and your family. I also have a message from a former mod from the Lakes/Ohio Valley forum. So sorry to hear the news of jburns' passing. He was a good poster, but seemingly an even better person. It was a pleasure being on the staff with him for a number of years. From beginning to end, he was never anything but kind to me in our public and private interactions. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. He will be missed by many people! Though he is gone, he will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
