Got a few small showers overnight with a grand total of 0.03" to add to the persistent mist this morning. Yesterday had a relatively small diurnal; 83/70 was the hi/low. The kicker was the max dew point hit 77F at one point yesterday. Just brutal

As a heads up, would want to keep an eye out across Northern and Northeast WV down through Central and Southeast VA today. Soils are very much saturated or compromised in these areas, so the threat for flash flooding is heightened. Would expect some FFW to be issued by local offices later in this setup.

Air quality reminiscent of the worst of the wildfires 2 years ago. I’m a little sick,  but was basically choking on the air tonight. 150+ AQI = yuck

Yeah we were like that yesterday. Had to go over the mountains here in Frederick to Middletown. The sight of the smoke in the valley was present:

Mind you today we are in England with this spittle cloud cover and musty temps.

Spittle cloud? Didn't know clouds could drool...

0.36" total here. Well modeled tbh. The HP wedging southward with the stable marine air killed any storms moving east/northeast. Lucky to get a little as they were dying.

Nothing today just cool and overcast. High of 67.

Under an inch total for the month. Very few hits and plenty of misses so far.

Last couple days here has been mostly clouds and smoke. Only a trace of rain despite higher odds in the forecast thre last 72 hours. Month-to-date rainfall in Middletown, DE only .76 "  The crazy high rainfall totals of May over 6 " unlikely to repeat.

Might need to water the garden tomorrow, as the overall soil moisture levels have been declining the last 7 days. Long gone are the values above 32 % , in this area soil moisture has declined back below the 5 and 10 year averages of 26 %   The clouds and cool air are masking the recent dryness.

Yesterday there were rain chances all the way to Thursday, now there's a decent chance all of them go down the tubes...

Appalachia stole all the rain. Some of the pictures and videos coming out of there are impressive. Honestly surprised it wasn't a Moderate Risk of flooding.

Will this be the pattern all season? The west steals our rain and we get breadcrumbs if the planets align?

It looks like some rain is trying to develop south of DC. The sky has gotten much darker in the past hour. I wonder if that will move across the lowlands later. It's been a great day in the garden. Nice and cool with a little breezy drizzle.

Steady moderate rain in Calvert for a good two hours now.  Looks like a ways to go to.  Been a long time since we've had a dark, solidly rainy day like this.  Occasional thunder too.

Day to watch would be late day/evening on this Thursday.

Mount Holly AFD snippet below

A strong cold front will approach and pass through the region
late Thursday and Thursday night. This will spark off afternoon
and evening showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be
strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center has a 15% risk for
severe weather across portions of the Northeast and Mid-
Atlantic on Thursday.
