Looking at older records that are not part of the threaded record for Newark that goes back to 1931, there was a 7.69” daily rainfall on July 28, 1897.

It's coming for at least the western 1/3 or so of LI too. It won't be as insane as over NJ and NYC but we all should be at 3-4" by the end. 

The humidity will finally be done at the end of this which I'm definitely looking forward to. My dehumidifier has been cranking nonstop for a week.

I saw that in Mount Holly radar.  Upton radar says 8"+.  Idk if either of them are correct.

Finally starting to let up as the red radar returns have moved east. 7.5" surely will hit 8-9

Rain estimates from radar aren't hail contaminated.  In fact, down here (Houston), for TCs, they put 88Ds in 'tropical ZR mode', not sure if rain now would still be in that form, but tropical system rains are underestimated by radar in normal mode.
