It's been saying it for multiple days.... LETS DO IT.

If we're going to be hot it might as well be historic.

We haven't had a 100 degree day in June in a few decades.

For what its worth, LGA did a few years ago. 2017 I believe. I was working outside that day a bike event, until they canceled after a few people passed out.

Some  numbers: the top 2 are the current ongoing event (coCoRaHs) that began late Friday May 28, and the bottom are the CoCoRahs totals since late Wednesday the 26th.

Seems like spotty 6-7" totals likely coastal NJ by Noon Monday, and I think still a chance of spotty 6" LI.

This part of Wantage only 2.10 this two day event and and 2.24 since late Wed, small by comparison elsewhere.

another beauty of a day temps in the 40;s raw wind . i did another 2 mile walk today. and when i went out it was not raining for the first mile. then it started pouring rain... as the rain kept pouring down..

i was reminded of the late great bj thomas famous song..

Raindrops keep falling on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red
Crying's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complaining
Because I'm free
Nothing's worrying me

Looks like most of the rain to our south on radar will stay over the ocean. Long Island should get hit with more rain than areas west of there.

I think i just got about 1/4” in 15 mins or so. Now its thundering.

Quite an impressive performance. It seems to have been a more potent system than expected. Any insights as to why?

Wow, those previous records were really smoked, no?  Taking a quick average looks like the records were broken across these 19 sites by an average of about -5.6 degrees.  Seems like a lot.

This was an impressive cold shot. Records are again falling today.

two years in a row NYC set a standard record low in May...last year was the latest 34 degree temp on record...this year is lowest max of 51 for so late in the season...

And it seems every Christmas week seems to set record highs. Weird.....

with all the rain this weekend and possibly next week i doubt 100 degrees temp would verify

It doesn't take all that long to dry out the ground anyway.  I dont think 100 is possible here in June anyway because it hasn't happened in my lifetime, however the heat of next week should dry out the ground nicely, thereby setting the stage for 100 degrees in July.  It's like a cold airmass that comes in before a snowstorm, dropping the temperature of the ground and priming it for a big snowstorm that will start to stick right away.

We didn't get this kind of weirdness in the 80s, I wonder why we get it now?

The combination of a near record cold air mass to the north and clouds and rain that precluded sunshine all contributed.

It seems to happen every May now, Don, why didn't we get these kind of aberrant arctic shots in May back when I was growing up in the 80s?
