Brick Tamland Posted December 10, 2018 So, looks like the models have anywhere from 2 to 16 inches here. Just a bit of a spread.

WinstonSalemArlington Posted December 10, 2018 14.3 inches for Roanoke makes Dec. 9, 2018, the 4th snowiest calendar day on record, going back to 1912. Ahead are 1/10/1921 (20), 2/13/1960 (15.4) & 12/25/1969 (14.6). Please note: Many bigger storms like 1993, 1996, 2009 or 2014 had snow totals divided over 2 calendar days. Dunkman Posted December 10, 2018 There's actually a pretty substantial stripe of ZR on the RGEM from the Triad and points ENE.

Am NE of Greensboro already sitting at .10 of ice and it's still heavy drizzle. Most forecast were calling for .10 max
tarheelwx Posted December 10, 2018 I'm afraid the RGEM could be right as we have steady ZR in Colfax as we speak. Temp right at 32 and trees are getting weighted. TW
CamelCityWx Posted December 10, 2018 A bit of sleet starting to fall about 3 miles south of Winston Salem. Edit: it appears to be zr now. Sitting dead on 32.

SouthCentralWakeCo Posted December 10, 2018 If this ULL overperforms, it is going to shock a lot of people. Not many local mets talking about it...

ryan1234 Posted December 10, 2018 If this ULL overperforms, it is going to shock a lot of people. Not many local mets talking about it...I would love to see this ULL over perform, waking up to literally know snow was such a major disappointment. But that’s Mother Nature, I suppose.. 1

Some of the best 1-2 hours of snow in some of those I’ve ever seen.
Jet Stream Rider Posted December 10, 2018 12 minutes ago, jtgus said: Where is the ULL currently? There are at least two parts to it. The first part is the original west coast energy that spawned our slp (now off the NC coast), and that is being sheared as it traverses the mountains. The second part is dropping down the backside of the trough and the 2 will begin to interact.
WeatherHawk Posted December 10, 2018 Hard to believe that the moderators and other folks are having conversation on the observation thread about Jim Cantore's height...it's crazy...if any of us did that we'd be out. Anyway...it's snowing like crazy here and my dog got stuck in the snow...she disappeared into a drift 1

TW I hear ya and share your concern. Power already flickered once tonight. The only positive to the wind was that most of the snow weight blew out of the trees earlier today. If we get a couple tenths of ZR that wind will quickly work against us. Light ZR here in Kvegas / Walkertown.

You go and find the post or posts of any moderator that was talking about Jim Cantore's height and I will discipline them severely. I'll wait. 2

Rankin5150 Posted December 10, 2018 ULL's are so tough to forecast. I remember when NWS was calling for 1-2" and when it got going, they came back with the famous "there is a fly in the ointment" in their Forecast Disscusion and we ended up with thundersnow and 10-12" inches on the ground, when it was all said and done. This was from the early 2000's. Do you remember that storm @Queencitywx? I believe we were on the Wright Weather at the time.

Does this thing have some horsepower? Or do you think we will just get on and off snow showers? It will be interesting to see where this sets up shop at...
