osfan24
Really not a bad storm if you are in the preferred northwest suburbs. They are going to end up in the 6-10 range. A lot of those model runs had a bullseye on Bmore for a good dump so those of us in and around the city are a bit disappointed in our dusting, but oh well. On to the next one! BTRWx
Flakes start as dime size and then evolve into Some nice quarter sized flakes....some half dollars mixed in, but not a lot Looks to me like the good stuff is over nw Prince William. Expat
There are pulses within the band, so any large flakes won't last long...
Scraff
Yeah...looks like its filing in toward us. Although I'm here in snizzleville, MD instead of home Hoping for grapefruit sized flakes soon. Will keep you posted.
The Dude
I'm backing up a diesel generator on Rt.170 with a portable heater next to the reporting site for BWI. You don't mind, do you? Just make sure you return it back to DCA when you're done...
nw baltimore wx
Hopefully this band rotates as slowly through us as long as we have to had to wait for it.

snowfan
Hopefully this band rotates as slowly through us as long as we have to had to wait for it. Agreed. Ive had a handful of mod snow periods that last 15-20 mins with flurries in between.

Ian
It's mostly been light rain here in the lull. I just want to flip back to snow.
Jebman
Good sign! I have got to learn to stop looking at this board and LOOK OUTSIDE ONCE IN A WHILE! Snow is mixing with the rain in Dale City.

nw baltimore wx
Agreed. Ive had a handful of mod snow periods that last 15-20 mins with flurries in between. I've got about 2" now and with the orientation and movement of that band, hopefully I will be able to add something worth noting.

PhineasC
There's actually nothing falling from the sky right now. No joke. For all of the talk of "NE MD" being the sweetspot for this storm the banding hasn't been nearby at all. I was down on this event from the start just because of how unusual the setup was and because in marginal events like this the NW burbs always do better. Skywalker03
After my last ob it really turned into a snow globe in north Rockville. My cul de sac street just caved. Big, big flakes!
87storms
moral of the story is the yellows are producing. someone in olney over to columbia area i think is in line if it holds, though it's convective. at it's peak for about 5-10 minutes straight it was nothing but large flakes and close to each other. snow globe status. back to mod and now light snow here, but fun while it lasted. RevWarReenactor
This would actually be a decent storm if it wasn't white rain. Pouring snow here. Even the flakes hitting snow aren't sticking. When am I am going to learn that 33/34 degrees and snow in the middle of the day doesn't accumulate
Grothar of Herndon
Nice heavy band now. Just needs continue for more than a few min. In Herndon the longevity of the band has been the challenge. Moderate snow with huge flakes, but only last for 5-10 minutes and then goes back to light min-flakes for 15-20 minutes. Rinse and repeat...
