CAPE
Did snow even melt out my way? It's beautiful out here. No melting here. It was snowing moderately at 4pm when I got home and 29F. Still 29 now. I think the heavier snow fell here later in the afternoon. Gorgeous out there.
Herb@MAWS
You don't see "freezing fog" mentioned in the local forecast around here very often.
I-83 BLIZZARD
Just got back from work. 2.25 inches here on the Mason Dixon mountain. Temp 27.8.
Fozz
31 degree snow creates some of the best scenery of any kind of winter weather.
mattie g
It's like a different world here to just north of the Beltway. Returns looked pretty good for much of the afternoon, but being slightly west with earlier shutoff probably hurt a good deal with melting.
T. August
Another solid 2-4" snow for N VA/MD. Hopefully we get a region-wide warning criteria snow sometime soon No melting here today, but some compaction.
Ian
Huge difference between DC and Silver Spring. Probably .5 to an inch still otg out here.Downtown you can't even tell it snowed most spots. Still full grass cover at home.
nj2va
Minimal grass coverage when I got home from work around 7. Better than when I left my client in SE DC and everything was melted.
WxUSAF
Calling it 2.6" IMBY. BWI also with 2.6" officially. Legit chance at double-digit seasonal snowfall by Saturday night.
Bob Chill
Calling it 2.6" IMBY. BWI also with 2.6" officially. Legit chance at double-digit seasonal snowfall by Saturday night.I hit 2" on the nose. Totally happy with that. Nice periods of solid rates and sticking to trees and everything else really made for a wintry scene. 6.6" for the year. I'm getting greedy...I want to close the month between 12-15" and make a run for climo+ with the phased blocked hecs coming the first week of Feb. ravensrule
Snow is fun, and I understand getting bummed at the thought of missing an event, but sunny, 80, frozen daiquiris, and some body art sound pretty good. Enjoy the trip. 1.7" of snow here. Thank you. It is just a sickness i have about missing snow. Last year when i came i missed 13". Good thing it looks pretty down the road or I would be pissed. Ian
Not really any fog here and temps haven't budged. Mild air rolling over deeper snowpack maybe. Def had some hints earlier like limited wind but was still decent temp/dp spreads.
das
Temp here in Clarksburg is 30.6F in pea soup freezing fog. Everything not covered in salt has a crust including the snow on the ground. Still have 2+" out there after compaction.

I can't remember the last time I've seen heavy freezing fog and drizzle. I guess it was back in 93 during the ice storm. Today turned out to be a beautiful winter day!! WEATHER53
Foggy but nothing is icing up. Edit this after read other comments. I am up to 32 but was not icing at 31.5. Roads fine even in subdivision, few small slick patches on shaded sidewalks.
psuhoffman
Funny how the type of snow matters. Had the same total today as the last clipper but this one looks much nicer with the thicker wet snow covering everything. Dry snow sucks unless you get a lot of it.
