Looks like around Floral Park/New Hyde Park has close to 3”. Here probably 1.3”, nice soaking before a good bit more in a few days. Lousy weekend unfortunately but needed to build up the water table before summer.

I experienced a very impressive storm in Brooklyn on the Belt Pkwy while driving earlier.  Besides strong winds, lightning , and torrential rains I went through a small intense hail core near Ocean Pkwy.  This was big hail with stones up to one inch in diameter.  I was in stop and go traffic at the time so I could not take photos.  I honestly thought my windshield would be taken out!  Flooding from this storm produced flooding on the Belt that blocked two lanes near Cropsey Ave.  Time of this was about 6:45 PM

The big temperature swings pattern continues. We saw something like this with the record warmth and hard freeze earlier this spring. Now it looks like afternoon temperatures will be the upper 40s to low 50s on Saturday following the upper 90s a few days ago.

Steady light to sometimes moderate rain ongoing.  Very chilly and damp with temperature currently at 54 degrees.   Had an overnight low overnight of 50.

As of 8am had received .12".  Ongoing rains will moisten the soil so that the upcoming weekend rains will be more able to soak in instead of just initially running off.  Going to put some fertilizer down tomorrow.  Been waiting for some decent rains to apply it.
