There is not a tree at least in CT that has not broken buds and has tiny leaves. All the Oaks even have .

Any ash trees still alive there?  they're one of the latest to break bud.  Only black locust might be later.  Still stick season here, though some tiny sugar maple seedings have a bit of green, thanks to the sun warming the leaf litter.

Had a pretty flurry 10:10-25 this AM, briefly whitened the lawn during 2 minutes of heavier snow but just a trace.

That's the problem with such a large subforum-it's full on spring around here with everything out-flowering trees, regular trees and lawns already mowed....a week of 80+ has pushed us 1-2 weeks ahead of normal-hopefully not too much of a freeze tonight

in response to the other question-almost no ash trees left here-sad.

Some of my Sugar Maples are lagging (still just flowers), but yes, surprised that the Oaks already have tiny leaves.

We’re getting a passing shower and yet I could’ve sworn I’ve seen some frozen precip in the mix. Maybe even mangled snowflakes or graupel.

And that is in spite of it being partly cloudy and 47.

I’ve seen this before even in Maryland, usually in the spring when there’s a cold airmass in place and it’s probably a lot colder aloft.

Ash are gone on my 100 acre woodlot. Might be a couple small trees near the road oddly enough that are still alive I'll have to check. This year should pretty much do it for the beech as well.

I have noticed a few large Green Ash that seem to be hanging on and still look healthy in my area. I talked with a Forestry Professor from Yale who said they are finding some that they call lingering ash. Some kind of genetic resiatance. Some good articles out there if you google more on it.

Lingering Ash (EAB Resistance): In North America, a small percentage of ash trees have survived EAB infestations. These "lingering ash" suggest a genetic basis for resisting the beetle, allowing for efforts to breed a new generation of resistant trees.

Still a lot of ash, beech, and elm here. I dug up an elm out of my tiger lilies by the corner of the house a couple of weeks ago. I have a couple of ash by the house that have to come out too. The older trees have taken a bit of a hit…especially south of here.
