I'm impressed with how my snowpack is holding on here. But it's nice to have some days with real solar panel production. Gotta make up for some steep january usage on the ole heat pump

57 for a high. Full sun exposed surfaces are wrecked. Anything protected from the sun is still full coverage of 3-4". That top layer of sleet proved beneficial with respect to helping with snow retention.

58 Car therm in HGR today.  Only made it to 45 just 15 min north of there near near Pen-Mar.  Elevation dependent day.

I just realized two of those stretches were from 1960-61. That had to have been a legendary winter.

I was at BWI and it looked patchy even though my family’s area still has very solid coverage. So I think 12z tomorrow will report a trace. But it was a very memorable run.

Temps 22-54 today, with sun. Significant range. Did some shoveling , but ice on the north side remains impenetrable even though meltwater ponded on top. Have been using old rubber mats and wood ash to keep walking paths safe. Not much longer I guess .

Growing up in central NJ, 60-61 was unbelievable. Three major snowstorms of a foot plus, The first, starting on a Saturday night (maybe Dec 9th) and ending Sunday closed schools for the whole week. The other two storms were in Jan and early Feb. Afterwards, I wondered why we did not get storms like that every year.

I grew up in the golden era  of 1958-71 and to my memory we skated on the pond every winter except two .  Sledded every one at some point Im pretty sure

Also, that followed the legendary March 1960, with three substantial snows and temps below 40 for most of the month!

Strange to realize it hasn't rained here since January 17!

I've only recorded 4 precipitation events in the past 50 days, and two of them combine for less than 0.10".  We effectively have the big storm and the Jan 10/11 rain as the only notable events this year so far.

The first(?) March storm was my first snow memory. My mother walked to our elementary school at the end of the block to take me home. Do not remember rest of March.

It's definitely milder today than I expected.  Weather stations are showing mid-40s across the region lol.
