It's a weather forum. Weather is a year round kind of thing. And I do like snow just not in 2 inch and dusting increments.

Well, fresh snow, clear and calm is definitely living up to its potential...went to a gathering around 5, was 20⁰, just walked home and it is already 6.9⁰

Let’s see what 2026 can bring. The best part of 2025 weather wise was the gustnado that came within several feet of me back in April. Should watch that video again.

I always loved college football but I seem to mentally check out after new years. When they were making the BCS championship game on dates like Jan 4th or Jan 5th, they were still close enough for the wait. But now it’s NFL playoffs swallowing up the oxygen by the time they are playing for the national title now. And yeah…I’m sure it makes me sound like an old grouch.

Finished December with a -5 departure and snow cover throughout here in the valley with frequent snows. 

Currently a frigid -6F this evening after last night’s refresher and these well-below normal arctic shots continue with frequency.

Normal is 28/9.  Today is 23/-6 because of a midnight high last night.  Daytime hours never got above 16F.

Not sure if you saw but the MJO desk intimated that the present NINA atmosphere is confined to the tropics … which brings up the question as to how well the hemisphere is actually coupled to the ENSO - or if it’s even sustaining … if so than the NIÑA Feb climo is a fluid assumption … offers a wild card

I’m with Will. These light dustings are fine in December near the holidays, but time for meatier storms or it’s another lost cause winter.

Light snow 1-2" with snow pack and cold are always welcome, but we need a benchmark crusher.. or a meaty overrunning event

bottomed out at 5.7 with a nice fresh snow, little dusting overnight was unexpected but take anything at this point, and agreed, we need a monster if only to get spirits up, and get closer to climo, which a lot haven't seen in a long time

It gets to be annoying. No real pack other than fluff that melts in the sun. Doesn’t have to be a 2 footer, just something other than 3” of fluff over bare ground.

It could be, but those living by the operationals and quoting output two weeks out are just asking for disappointment one way or the other. Of course there's the one on here who only shows up to twist the knife about the warmth...
