Managed to get 0.8 which is amazing for such an arid area.  Best rain in weeks and might be the last for a very long time.  I am looking forward to the gorgeous temps over the next several days

same here - we got three separate bouts of rain.

Going back to August 1st last year when the tropics with Debby started to change things down here...

Despite some dry months over the last 12 months - huge difference from the previous 12 months..

August 2023 to July 2024 --- 29.25

August 2024 to July 2025 --- 49.47

Last 6 months                   23.37

Same period last year.      11.25

Overall much better than the past 2 years....

I sweat through my undershirt and dress shirt walking to the bus this morning. Fucking died.

was taking my daughter to her camp on the bus today - just suffocating.  the next few days are going to be awesome.

While we've been having Florida-like weather, in Florida it's been like the Persian Gulf lol.  Tampa had temps around 100 with dews in the low 80s, so it somehow can get even worse.

-Press Release-

A Tragic Loss Following Severe Weather in Mount Airy.

During the height of the storm, at 5:20 PM, an individual became trapped in a storm drain, located at 201 W. Watersville, Apartments after being caught in rapidly rising floodwaters.

Mount Airy Police and Fire Departments, along with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency responders, worked tirelessly in an attempt to rescue the individual. Despite their heroic efforts, the operation transitioned from a rescue to a recovery.

The individual was ultimately recovered from the storm drain but, unfortunately, succumbed to injuries sustained during the event.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We ask the community to keep them in their hearts and to recognize the dedication of the first responders who answered the call without hesitation.

Respectfully,
Chief Michael Ginevra

.08” today. 2.74” for July. Better than last July. Still crispy landscape around here though. Will see what August will bring.

Wow, even worse than my yard.  As you said, better than the last couple of Julys.  And probably better than most July's in my yard.  Still, very frustrating to keep missing rains in what has been a very wet pattern in the region.  This is what happens in our areas; we underperform when we get the opportune patterns, which sets us up for drought when the pattern turns dry.  Fingers crossed for some tropical help later this month.
