Back at Kemp Mill and we got blasted with 55-60mph.  Power out, lots of small to medium branches snd limbs down, Kemp Mill Rd has two trees down

Solstice tomorrow. Positive thought as we head into a blistering hot and dry period- Shorter days ahead as we work our way back towards winter. Can't wait for Fall and football.

Another line of storms firing just to the west. Can hear the thunder. Still looks like it will mostly slide to the NW. At some point a direct hit has to happen, right? Lol its been uncanny this month.

It seems to me that whenever there is a SW flow up here it would bring in air off the water and sock the place in with most and fog.  That's how it's been this week.  And based on the extensive moss and lichen everywhere I'm figuring it's like this quite often at least when the water is still cool.   I prefer cold and breezy when camping but this damp mist that never stops is the pits.

Up to 0.62" for the day and just over an inch since yesterday. Still some light rain to come through. Pretty respectable given all the misses this month.

Lots of trees down from the afternoon storm here in Great Falls. Neighbors lost a big oak. Still lots of power outages. Fortunately ours was restored pretty quickly.

0.52", 2.72" for the month, 23.35" ytd,  half way through the year this is pretty much average. Gonna need above average few months or wet fall to build the watertable back.

Yep. The place is a fog/rain forest. The water never really gets that warm. 60 plus maybe. We've done entire week long vacations and never seen the sun (pic attached was the last week of June in 2023). But often if you drive a few miles inland it can be sunny. Our relatives are across Frenchman Bay from Bar Harbor, and sometimes we can see the islands and town over there socked in with fog, while we have several mile visibility. August-September trend drier with less fog days but in the right set ups it's the same any month of the year. Anyway, hope you see the sun before you leave!

Managed to mostly split the gap earlier, but did get maybe a 0.1” from the south half of the line. Got to see 2 small shelf clouds though, and lots of lightning. Getting random showers now with some rumbles. Waiting for the random beginning of august impressive unexpected thunderstorm.

Power out since 5 and tree down on a car with the wires but just 107 total outages  so a small number and we are low priority. Plus it’s a Thursday holiday.  The huge tree on University   about 3 weeks  ago put 900 out and we got prompt attention on that

Monthly total 2.78.... Did get a couple nice pics driving home west of Charlottesville on 64 in weakening showers into the setting sun.... Raindrops looking like Christmas lights in the sun...

Final numbers yesterday were 92/69 with 0.34" of precip. I think the winds hurt the rain collection because it was dumping, but coming down sideways. Still a decent total and brings the month to 3.97" already. This has been a really wet May/June combo. Now to bake.....

Only .42" yesterday. The storms on Wednesday were a lot more impressive in my area of the lowlands. This is the prettiest morning in a long time. Hopefully this heatwave is like our cold patterns. Fast moving and overdone.

Only picked up 0.14" from several lines of storms yesterday. Great news is the humidity and temps are MUCH lower this am!  Currently 56.5/55.7 after a 55.3 degree low. Sadly, we bake starting Sunday.

Nice pic, and yeah that's exactly how it's looked this week.  We leave today so I don't think we will see any sun until we get up in the airplane above the clouds.  It's back to reality in the oven when we land at DCA tonight.  

 

Acadia is nice but holy cow is it overcrowded.  I don't really understand why.  The facilities in the park are also woefully under designed for the number of people that show up.  I might go back off season in the snow or something but I wouldn't return this time of year.

Go up to Gaspesie National Park, Forillon National Park and Percé next time. A million times better than Maine.
