bluewave
Nothing unusual about Newark this summer as some other stations had more 90° days. This was probably the result of the ASOS being so close to the bay and getting cooling breezes. Newark hasn’t had the 90° day lead NJ so far in the 2020s. SACRUS
65 / 47 and a lovely day. Lee causing some breezes, and clouds in eastern sections. Overall nice stretch of weather this weekend, near normal. Clouds on Sat (9/16) from Lee keep it in near 80 despite warmth from the hurricane - so a bit more humid. Trough pushes front through Mon (9/18) with showers and rain. Beyond there ridging into the east, even though heights being forecast higher, think we have some onshore and cut offs. We'll see still overall warm period coming up think we max in the 80s. Tropics and any cutof could yield a wetter scenario.

winterwx21
Some showers sunday night into monday, but what a stretch of weather after that. Tuesday through thursday sunny with high temps in the upper 70s and dewpoints down around 50. Some top 10 days of the year in there. The beautiful weather looks to continue through next weekend too. Today the winds are a little too strong causing some chip and allot of close outs. The beach is fully flooded up to a wall the state built at homes beach. We’ll see what this evenings high tide does, as that should have the best combo of highest tides and largest waves.

cannoliman42
Cool view from my office today. You can see where the cirrus clouds from Lee end. Pretty much has stayed this way all day. Cloudy to the east, blue skies to the west. Impressive cutoff. 4

It’s because of outflow and southerly flow overall ahead of the hurricane at the upper levels. 1
SACRUS
75 looks to be the high here for the day. Just a wonderful day, although ragweed/hayfever seems high. Do think tomorrow may not be as cloudy as forecast with Lee curret view and motion. We will see.

donsutherland1
After a chilly start, temperatures rose into the upper 60s and lower 70s across much of the region. Tomorrow will then be fair and continued cool. Much of the region will likely see temperatures top out in the lower to middle 70s. In the medium and longer range, a warmer than normal pattern could develop in eastern North America. The ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly was +2.9°C and the Region 3.4 anomaly was +1.6°C for the week centered around September 6. For the past six weeks, the ENSO Region 1+2 anomaly has averaged +3.20°C and the ENSO Region 3.4 anomaly has averaged +1.38°C. El Niño conditions will likely continue to strengthen into the fall with the current East-based event transitioning to a basinwide El Niño for the upcoming winter. The SOI was -16.99 today. The preliminary Arctic Oscillation (AO) was -0.613 today. On September 12 the MJO was in Phase 4 at an amplitude of 1.721 (RMM). The September 11-adjusted amplitude was 2.188 (RMM). Based on sensitivity analysis applied to the latest guidance, there is an implied 80% probability that New York City will have a warmer than normal September (1991-2020 normal). September will likely finish with a mean temperature near 71.5° (2.3° above normal).
