I wasn't expecting a lot of rain after the brief storm along the front, but post-front precip really expanded this evening and trained over the area for several hours.  I ended up with 0.84".  The last hour was sleet.

There were a few flakes mixed in as well. I estimated it to be something like 70/30.

Hey beavis, here's some research for ya.

Yesterday was just the 5th time on record that Chicago has had a 70/60 day on 11/10 or later.  And it had been 70 years since it happened.

11/11/1882:  72/62

11/12/1902:  70/62

11/21/1913:  72/62

11/17/1952:  74/60

11/10/2022:  76/60

Nice…and funny that all of those temps are even numbers. Very difficult to have a 60+ min this time of year, with the long nights.

Ha.  Didn't even notice that.

Besides the long nights, any cold frontal passage at this time of year pretty much guarantees temps dropping below 60, so have to get lucky with frontal timing too.

Haven’t been out yet, but it looks like 10-11” otg. Last time I looked outside before falling asleep, there was only 5 inches.  Evidently it snowed very hard during the night.
still snowing mod-to heavy at times with another couple inches today but should taper.

Snow Chances in the forecast everyday, through next weekend. Winter is here!

Friday night thru this morning:

Nice! What part of Marquette county are you in. Been thinking of visiting up there.

And here I was depressed about the 2.5" we got here yesterday. The thought of 10" is nightmare stuff. lol

December-type weather is happening now, with continuing lake effect snow in the area. There were many pleasant sunny days recently, even multiple days over 70 degrees. The last 30 days have been roughly 4 degrees F above normal over most of us on the sub-forum. I saw some decent sized snowflakes yesterday, with what could have been a snow rate at least 1/2" per hour. It wasn't really cold enough to get 1/2" accumulation for more than a half hour or an hour. I saw some large aggregate snowflakes of 1/2" width or better, so that's pretty rare. At the end of the day, the ground was really too warm for accumulation

Yesterday some light snow spit with heavy overcast skies, sat by my folks wood burning stove, eating chili and drinking oatmeal stout. It was so peaceful, I’m a sucker for those kind of days.

Bring on the first legitimate  illegitimate snowfall, I’m ready.

fixed.
