As someone who has never seen an ice storm and definitely does not want one. These maps are a little scary. I’m hoping we just end up as rain.

I have always heard a half inch of ice is devastating.

.5 of accretion is pretty serious.  .5" of rain in freezing temps isn't all going to be accreting.  It runs off.

Short memory; models last week were all doom and gloom east and how did that work out??? I think pike south sees a decent amount of frozen be it a sleet fest or freezing rain

I think the amount of zr in a narrow zone is being underplayed. The column eventually supports sleet but a lot of hours are being modeled as zr . Def was a colder trend on 00z

I like the NAM’s -d(t) of 14C at Logan between hrs 54 and 60. In F, 49 —> 28 in that six hrs.

Strongly hints what’s goin on in the interior W-N. I mean if Logan goes from WSW to NNE and dramatically paralyzes the sfc in sub 0C there’s most likely a 925mb ageostrophic jet ducting SW east of the Whites and it WILL destroy guidance if that sets up.

NAM beyond 48 hrs notwithstanding …

And to better illustrate…what will be the gradual capitulation on the mesos…

Seem like about an inch of cold rain and then a lot of sleet/ZR here after that. Hopefully we trend it a little snowier….but I guess that’s all better than the 50-60F torching rain that was shown several days ago.

Is it? IS IT?
