He def. took them, but I don't attribute his rise to prominence entirely to PEDS.

That steep incline took place right as he entered his physical prime years, and he has maintained it....was not fleeting.

Is he being 100 percent honest?

Different argument.

Right, he says, "I did not"

that's what I'm question - and a further that he's lying and being 00 percent dishonest.

Not even close... I think 19"?

Have not seen a 3 footer that I recall since 2005? And even that I'm not sure about

Even 19 seems high compared to what was on the ground, granted I only measure at the end of the storm not every 6-hours, but I got around 15"-16".  The snow was so fluffy that it certainly could compact down to that from 19".

I can see how people think we got hammered though, as Worcester got slammed.  Every time I'd talk to all the people I know in E MA they'd say "you guys got slammed out there with 3-feet in Worcester"...then I'd have to say..."Umm Worcester is 25 miles south, Westminster does not = Worcester :)"  Then again, they all lump everything outside 495 into one area haha.

Sure it can....especially in a windy event such as that.

Less water content means that there is more air in the snow, as it fluffs up.

That certainly settles as it falls, and thereafter.

Don't confuse settling/sublimation with "compaction". The former are much more pronounced in the light fluffy snow, and though the cement may "compact", I'd say the pack is more resilient owed to more water content/less air.

You received about 18-19".

Having read Ortiz' rant, the implication you're making is that either MLB and its testing agency have no idea how to detect PEDs - none whatsoever - or that David's "80 tests since 2004" is north of the truth by about 75 or so.  Be nice to see some solid evidence for either.  (Or real info on what triggered his alleged - by a writer for the NYT while Yanks and Sox were fighting for the 2009 pennant - positive test in 2003.)

Ortiz' problems with the Twins were twofold - first, he seldom knew if or where he'd play from day to day, as his skills were kind of antithetical to what the Twins' management seemed to encourage.  The Sox gave him the chance to know when/where he'd play (starting with the last 2/3 of his initial BOS season), and surrounded him with better hitters.  Second, and related, is that almost no one on that team was a slugging monster.  I would guess that David's .490 SL and .236 ISO power for his final two MN years might've led the team.  Of course, neither you nor I know for sure whether or not he intentionally doped; it's all on belief, or disbelief.

Edit:  Half right.  Tori Hunter's .501 SL led the Twins for 2001-02, while Ortiz' ISO power was tops.  I still think he was less "mediocre" and more "misused" in MN.

Back to wx:  This winter will probably finish with a B-.  Great November, great last week of January, wretched December, the rest meh with loads of near misses and fringes.  Having 3 WSWs for which sum of forecast snows was 26-40" and verification was 3.5" can take the lustre off one's memories.

Holding the cell phone in one hand leisurely ski down the green trail Lollapalooza, little shaky bumpy but some great scenery on that trail. Home in record time. looks like almost complete meltdown here about 3-4 inches in spots. Fantastic week. Looking forward to the 3-4 here.

That April had some pretty warm weather down here.....

I remember my buddy opened his in ground pool and we went swimming over April break

It got really warm after the snow melted up here. It was mostly 30s/40s/50s to start the month. We had about a week averaging mid 70s 2/3 into the month. I don't think we got another stretch of warmth like that until June.

Me too. I had big hail on 7/4.

That may be a summer we don't see repeated for a while

I'll never forget when Matt (he was Utica-Wx at the time) crunched some hail numbers for NY state for 2008 and I think he said that 35% of all hail reports from 1950-2008 happened in that summer alone...that's crazy.

Actually the BOX CWA area also had their most active severe wx day (which was later broken) ever in terms of reports.  I can't remember what date it was but I think it was late June.

cold pools FTW
