On a similar note, I wish WPC would develop an event archive like SPC does. It would be great for research.

I’ll make a note of this and perhaps entertain working on something that’s rainfall centric. I want to generate something that like this for higher profile events in the past for the Excessive Rainfall Outlook (ERO) desk, so perhaps this will be a reason to create a repository of events. 
 

We currently do Storm Summaries for winter events only, so maybe we can do something for the more formidable rainfall events. It would take a lot of time because we want the best information possible and strong write ups, so it would be a while, but I’ll certainly look into starting a project. Thanks Matt

Storm out there again this morning.  Really gross, no wind,.just rain.  Rain gauge looks to have over 2" in it but I'll have to measure properly once it stops raining.

Been lucking out overnight near Berlin, Md. with very little to no rain since arriving Sunday. Excellent beach day on Sunday. Mostly overcast and humid this morning with a few peaks of sun, but dry so far. Hazardous weather statements locally for 3’-5’ waves, rough surf and rip currents.

Anything Slight Risk or higher would be great honestly. The worst flooding of my career was in a Slight Risk last July when inside the beltway got slammed.

Slight risks will likely be the min and I’ll parse through the data to find some of the more notable Slight Risk days across the country. Moderate and High Risks are basically automatic, so those are more low hanging fruit. Appreciate the comment and getting my brain jogging on the next project

Sure thing. Unlike SPC, the marginal flood risks are so benign that I'm not sure it's worth including.

Yesterday was the 3rd total failure for this summer with a Flood Watch for the 81 corridor. This is becoming embarrassing for NOAA.  

Augusta is the second largest county in Virginia. A 9 station sample averaged .33" for Augusta Yesterday.

The heavy rain was from southeasterly up-slope on the eastern flank of the Blue Ridge. Charlottesville 2.51, Ruckersville 1.94",  Sperryville 1.53,  Batesville 2.20", Crozet  1.29, Wintergreen on the eastern face of the Blue Ridge, 1.74".   The Flood Watch should have been limited to counties east of the Blue Ridge. 

A Flood Watch is the Kiss Of Death for the Valley.

I remember last week the forecast for this week was "rain chances all week". That basically turned into a few hours of rain Sunday evening and that’s it. Looks like a nice week. I wasn't expecting lower humidity and nice temps though. I'll take it i guess.
