yeah it definitely stays cooler than it used to - I'd imagine midtown is pushing 100F at the moment.  Heat waves like this in NY are horrible - the subway stations easily get to like 120-130F.

Out at the cabin...it's a breezy 82F.  Though it is a tad humid so I had to close the windows and put the A/C on for a few hours til the sun drops down.  Some patchy clouds moved in so that should hold temps down a bit.

These clouds popped over central/southern MD since 11am. Preventing the searing heat from cooking just a tad.

Confused where you guys are saying a "chance" at 100 for these stations at 96-98 well before peak July 2nd heating and still a cap on clouds. If they don't hit 100, I might run around naked. 

I'm more focused on just how high they could get. Spots in S PA got to 100 yesterday at the local stations, including over in Lancaster County and west into the valley. MDT hit 99.

And probably nobody has air conditioning there, since the average July high is in the mid-70s.

Correct. Apparent Temp is Heat Index and/or Wind Chill. Yes. It's what the NWS systems call it.

94/72 in Lynchburg, VA. The airport tends to run low, still at 91. I'm curious if we will have our first 100 degree day since 2012. Point and click had 100, 101, and 102, but we don't do extreme heat well due to our elevation and lack of a real UHI leading to cooler nighttime temperatures (70 this morning).

The Edgewood mesonet site, located in Harford County, just came in at 95/81, producing a heat index of 117°. The 117° reading is a new network wide record for the mesonet.

They got Bay Breeze'd and since the Heat Index is more sensitive to Dew Point more than it is temperature, it went crazy.

94 here which is 2 degrees higher than at this time yesterday when I hit a high of 98.
