CT Valley Snowman
Enfield, CT not over yet but currently A- Snow: B: 85, Right near my average of 48-49", I don't give A's unless I go a decent bit above average. Retention: A+:98 Best snow coverage in years Cold: A: 95 Great consistent cold, although I've had years with better arctic outbreaks. Big Events: B: 85. Late January's 17" was the biggie here; I got hosed in the blizzard Current Grade A- 90.75 Subject to final review and revision.
bncho
McLean, VAWinter Rating: B- Reasoning:~18" of snow is still just below my average of 20". The snow/sleetfall from late-January stayed for a long, long time due to the severe cold in late-Jan to early-Feb, really helping this winter's case. There were lots of late nights just to see potential wasted for my area. NorthHillsWx
Raleigh NC RATING: D Reasoning: cold was solid but we had 3 storms including 2 warnings and neither warning verified and all 3 storms underperformed forecasts. We got the lowest seasonal snow total (3.6” IMBY) in the entire state and had one of the most epic snow hole events of all time during the January 31 storm. Also the Christmas torch really sucked. Just painful all around

cleetussnow
White Plains NY Snowfall ~140% of normal Snowstorms - 2 storms that were 16+, plus some nickels and dimes here and there. Most storms overperformed in fact. That factors a lot frankly in my grade. I was never let down. Temps - well below normal for all 3 met winter months. Too damn cold. Snowcover - I’d say 10 weeks of the 13, we had something OTG somewhere in my yard, all the way up to 30 inches in spots at one point. We still have a solid pack and will have snow for at least a few more days in the yard, piles longer. White Christmas - this puts it over the top for me. I’d sign up for this winter if given the chance every single time. A+
michsnowfreak
Wyandotte, MI. I usually dont grade until April but likely grade will be: B+ Snowfall to date is 39.8", which is a few inches shy of annual 43" average (but again, we average snow into April). Snowfall was frequent (esp Dec-Jan) but no huge storms, the two largest being 6.2" & 5.2". Snowcover was fantastic. From late November through the 3rd week of February, the ground was blanketed in snow nearly continuously with exception of 2 brief thaws (christmas week & 2nd week of Jan). Until melting the 2nd week of Feb, the snow was usually fresh and glittery. Cold was excellent. Ice thick on the lakes. 2nd colder than avg winter in a row, but this year much more than last. November and February finished slightly colder than avg, December and January solidly colder than avg. The quiet Feb (a boring month saved by snowcover) and mild bare start to march is what keeps it out of A- territory for now.
Siberian-Snowcover-Myth
Richmond…A- Varina,Va (5 miles SE of RIC) 12/5. 2.1” snow 12/8 5.0” snow 12/14 0.10” Dusting 7.2” Total (almost at RIC yearly average of 8.8”.) 1/25 .25 snow 1/25 3”snow followed by 1.5”sleet/frz rain 2/4 Flurries 2/6 2.5” arctic front snow Total 12.95” snow. - 1.5” ice A- ……..I give it a minus because of the 2 major snowstorms that were close by, but missed out on. If we had received one of those storms, this would’ve been the best winter since 2010. Great cold from December thru February. Not to mention local schools were out for 2 weeks due to solid ice pack. gopper
Towson, MD Baltimore County B+ slightly below average snow overall, but cold made the frozen precip stick around for a long time! The big January event gave 8 inches of snow plus 4 inches of sleet. It become rock solid and simply did not melt for a month. Schools closed for a week. Plus several other smaller snow events. We just missed out on the northeast blizzard. If we had got a full hit, it would have been an "A" grade. Essence of the winter was long duration cold, which is not common here.
