Flying to PBI from HVN 6:30 Friday morning. Headed to Miami for a few days for a bachelor party. Hoping that will at least take my mind off things after this week but much, much looking forward to a few days of temperatures around 80 with a touch of humidity.

Thinking of adopting another one? I didn't want to after I lost mine last year but my wife found one and I love her and so happy she's around.

My brother just lost one of his Golden’s suddenly this morning.  Diagnosed with heart swelling yesterday gone today.  Only 9 years old.  :(

Pet loss can be more difficult than a human family member. My sister just lost her Frenchie out in San Fran during the heat wave. They live on the third floor with no AC, never needed it in the past, 99% of the time the temps are comfortable. Dog passed away from heat stroke, only 3. Goldens unfortunately don’t have the best life span due to overbreeding. But man, what a great dog to have.

Yes we 1000% will be, but probably not until later in the summer.

My girlfriend will begin bar prep in about a month and is taking the exam the end of July and I will be doing two classes over the summer ( I debated taking the summer off but if I do two classes fall/spring/summer I will have my masters end of summer 2027) and they are only 10 week courses so we both are going to be super swamped.

We both absolutely want to though. She adopted the dog when she lived in Florida, found him at the shelter when he was only 6 months old and she said he was badly abused. The first time I met my girlfriend and came to her house the dog and I got along right away. This dog was absolutely the most best, loving, sweet, and caring dog ever and he had such an amazing life and we want to provide that option to another dog too.

We still have a cat so we're not totally pet-less.

We lost our black Lab of 13 years on Oct 29, 2016, and with us past normal retirement age led to pondering whether to get another dog.  We decided to wait until spring before making a decision.  "Spring" came on Feb 4  a yellow Lab mix thru Maine Lab Rescue.  Scrawny 32-lb 17-month-old fixed female from TX.  (She's now in the 50s and not fat.)  Might've never seen snow, and her first 2 weeks here included 5 storms totaling 45", then the Pi-day blizzard really spooked her.

Now 10 yr old, turns 11 in July, still spry but achy when I do a reasonably long bushwhack on our woodlot, as she has to sniff everything - if I walk a mile, she does 3 or 4.

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't make it until the end of summer lol. The plan is my girlfriend is going to go to the shelter and pick out a dog. I can't go and do it because I told her if we encountered pups that were a part of a family there is absolutely zero way I could just take the one, I would have to take the whole family.

What I should say though is, the dog will pick her. That is how she ended up with the dog. She went to the animal shelter when she was living in Florida and went into a cage...all of the dogs ran and hid into the corner and only one went up to her and she figured that was the one. The dog had just been dropped off at the shelter a day or two before. Talk about fait.

When we lost Wilbur (my profile pic) we waited almost 2 years before we got another dog.  We wanted and enjoyed the freedom that came along with not having to be home by a certain time to let one out and being able to go somewhere at the drop of a hat.  But then we got Bella the beagle and I don't miss that freedom at all.  She has been a great addition to the household and we are so happy to have her.

I remember your pics of her out in the snow. :(

She got to live through 2008-09 (puppyhood to adolescence), 2010-11 (climbing up to dump on the snowbanks on the side of the road), 2012-13 (lots of pics for the feb and March buggies), 2013-14 (cold and sometimes snowy fun), 2014-15 (the $900 UTI), many more up to 2022.  All dogs are snow dogs.

Losing a dog ( or cat ) is so difficult, even harder than a human. I lost my last of our three dogs a year ago October. We are finally going to start looking again by this summer. We do have a houseful of the feline variety though, so no lack of happiness here. Just ready to add the canine back to our household.

My issue with getting another dog is what if he/she lives 12-15 years?   Good chance I won’t.  And if I do will I be able to care for the dog in my 90s?

I am sure you could find someone here to do that for you.   I have had 3 GR's.  My last one made it to 13.  Cancer of course was the reason for the exit.  We got a shelter dog 4 years before its death, and its still with us at 10.  Yorky/ Dachshsund mix. Affectionately known as a dorky.  This is still pulling us around.

55 here today.  Just snow piles left.  Not a bad day once the wind died down.

Adorable dog. Beagles are great except when they're not.

Did you go to Springfield to watch Hagens ? It will be a miracle id bruins win in Buffalo. 1-1 going into the second so there's a chance.

I hope they have some heavey's to keep that stuff at a minimum.  I suspect within 3 or 4 games you will see him with the team.

I did not, I had something to do after work and Bruins are playing. If bruins were off tonight I probably would have. With going to Miami this weekend I won’t be able to watch Saturday night and I can’t even get updates for Sunday’s game. Flight back is 6:30 and game is 6:30 and I’m flying Avello which has no WiFi :axe:

I would not be shocked to see Hagens before the season ends but the team may prefer him get playoff experience with Providence and may not want to burn his first year of an ELC for what only may amount to a handful of games. I was 100% confident they would have signed Hagens to his ELC once BC season ended but given they didn’t, not sure they will now.

You are in good shape, Jerry...lots of folks maintain vitality and independence into their 90s...you keep active, too...physically and mentally. I Look forward to exchanging obs during winter 2037-2038....if Tip doesn't engineer to have the sun swallow us whole by then.
